DeLayne L. McKnight
June 20, 1942 - July 3, 2014
DELAYNE L. MCKNIGHT, age 72, of Nampa, Idaho, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Thursday, July 3, 2014, after fighting a brave 10-year battle with complications from a fall injury.
DeLayne was born to Leota and Henry McKnight on June 20, 1942. DeLayne worked for Eddys Bread for 41 years and did not miss one day of work. He truly loved his family and was a devoted husband, father, and grandpa. DeLayne married the love of his life, Ruby Louise Duvall, on April 19, 1963. He was a member of the Idaho National Guard. DeLayne and Ruby lived in Boise, Idaho, with their four children. They moved to Nampa, Idaho, in 1977. DeLayne and Ruby were members of the 6th Ward of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Nampa. DeLayne enjoyed working on his yard and large Koi pond.
DeLayne is survived by his wife of 51 years, Ruby McKnight; his children, Julie Newman (Lonnie), Brett McKnight (Kimber), Darrin McKnight (Karen), and Trent McKnight (Jen); and 9 grandchildren, Teryn, Jordyn, Kyle, Cortnee, Amber, Alex, Breanna, Alexandrea, and Faith. He was also survived by his brother, Paul McKnight (Barbara); his sisters, Carla Smith (Jim, deceased), Verta Black (Steve), and Marlene Wilson (Don). He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Leota McKnight; and his brother, Chad McKnight.
A special thanks and appreciation goes to Southwest Idaho Advanced Care Hospital and Nampa Care Center for their kindness and services.
Please join DeLayne's family in a memorial service on July 19, 2014, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 1500 Smith Ave., Nampa, Idaho, at 3:00 p.m.
