Donald Stuart Davies
December 16, 1927 - August 4, 2014
On August 4, at 6:30 PM, the old gun man from Marsing passed on to greener pastures. Don attended his last gun show at the Lewis & Clark Gun Show on July 12, and still in his last days, was selling guns out of his bed. Don is survived by his wife of 20 years, Carol, daughter Mary (Jack) Waite; sons Martin (Linda) of Walnut Creek, CA, and Stewart (Robin) of North Pole, AK; and numerous grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one son, Mark, his parents, and beloved Aunt Helen.
Gun shows were the essence of Don's life. He eagerly looked forward to the next show down the road. He would talk about upcoming shows and encourage all to stop by and do some trading. Don was in the height of glory when working with guns. He was a Civil War buff, and had a library full of books on Civil War History and Indian Wars guns. Don shot in every gun competition there was. He taught hunter's safety education and concealed weapons classes. He reloaded hundreds of boxes of ammunition for all kinds of guns and especially loved repairing guns.
Carol invites family, friends and old gun buddies to attend a celebration of Don's life and a dinner to follow. Memorial Services will be at the LDS building located at 12th and Everett Street in Caldwell, on August 16, 2014 at 11:00 AM. Private interment will be held later in day at the Lower Boise Cemetery near Parma. Condolences can be given at
