Barbara Dennett Obituary
Barbara was born Nov. 24, 1934, in Caldwell, Idaho. She was the second of seven children and was born to Marshall and Mayme Owen.
Barbara grew up in the Meridian area and attended school there. She was married to Rufus Hamilton and from this union three children were born. After Rufus' death, she married John Dennett in 1985. Her life with John and their mutual families was her major enjoyment.
Barbara touched many lives through her work at the Life Care Center as the Activities Director. She cherished every moment of her time helping facilitate and enrich the lives of others. Many lives were touched by Barbara, too many to mention. She will be greatly missed.
Her most wonderful memories were at her home with her husband, children and grandchildren in her backyard. Every member of the family looked forward to holidays at Granny Barb's and Grandpa's, especially her yearly Christmas Eve gathering.
She is survived by her six children; Steve (Becky) Hamilton, Kathy (Stan) Stevens, Mike (Terri) Hamilton, LaVaun Dennett, Beth (Kenny) Cole, and Sherri Dennett, her brothers Johnny (Sandy) Overton, Ronnie Overton, and Victor (Wendy) Overton, and a multitude of grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by John in June 2010, her mother and father, her brothers Darrell, Danny, and Jimmy Owen; and a granddaughter Susie Hamilton.
The funeral service will be held Thursday, Feb. 17, 2011, 1 p.m. at the Meridian 14th Ward LDS Church at 12040 W. Amity Rd., Boise, Idaho, with viewing one hour prior to the service. A graveside service will be held at Meridian Cemetery with a gathering for friends and family after the graveside service back at the 14th Ward.
Memorials in may be sent to the Ronald McDonald House in Boise or the charity of your choice.

Dear family,
Tim and I enjoyed Barbara so much over the years. We enjoyed seeing her and John . He was great as well Any time we saw her we could always get a hug and a smile from her no matter where we were. She was a wonderful caring woman who devoted her life to John and her heavenly father. The work she has done on this earth was amazing. We shall miss her . God bless your family in this time. Wayne and I were sad to learn of Barbara's passing and sad we could not attend her funeral. She and John were dear friends and we had a lot of fun times with them and we are left with good memories. May God bless the family and keep them in His loving care. Wayne and Gloria Forrey

Barbara and I became friends while I was in Boise rehabing from my broken leg. Although it had been years since we had seen each other (we are cousins) it was as though that missed time never happened. We will all miss her tremendously. Sherrian Wallace Beck

Barb also know as (Rubarb)could walk into a room and the room would light up with warmth, laughter, and happiness. She was a caretaker for all. Elegant and shophisticated she never lack for listening to others. My cousin was one in a million. She knew her Savior and has now gone to be with Him and her soul mate John. Love you cousin Barb, I will miss you terribly.

Your mother became a good friend of our family while my father was a resident of Life Care Center for 7 years. I talked to her after my mother passed away two years ago and sent her some clippings and a resume that my mother had saved. She related how heart-broken she was after losing her husband. We are sorry for your loss and she will be fondly remembered by our family.

I worked with Barb for many years at Life Care Center of Boise. She was such an amazing lady - always looking out for our residents and making sure they had fun & enjoyed life. Barb was a great asset to the Boise community. She will be missed!
