Christopher McClaskey Obituary

Christopher Mark McClaskey left this world on September 18, 2011 at 8:02 PM to join his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ after an almost four year courageous battle with brain cancer and a life long battle with Neurofibromatosis.
Christopher was born March 06, 1988, at Mtn. Home AFB to Cindy Zuzel. Mother and son moved to Boise when Christopher was almost 1 year old to live with his grandma Marge.
When he was three years old his mom met Mark McClaskey, future husband and father, and moved to Nampa Idaho where they have lived in the same house for 20 years. At age seven Christopher was adopted by Mark after marrying his mom.
Christopher graduated from Marsing High School in 2006. His love for aviation and the military was evident at a very young age with him wanting to join the U.S. Air Force but was unable to because of his Neurofibromatosis. So he started college at TVCC wanting to get a degree involving computers and video games, his second passion.
His love for aviation never ended though, reading and absorbing everything he could about different aircraft and specifically World War II. In 1997 he saw for the first time an aerobatic pilot, Greg Poe fly at a local air show. He continued to go to every local air show that Greg was flying in and got to know him becoming good friends. In 2008, six months after Christopher was diagnosed with a brain tumor, Greg took him flying in his aerobatic plane.
Christopher's love for aviation made him a true expert on just about any military aircraft. He could tell you what plane is was along with all the stats on the plane. Many experts on aviation and WWI history were impressed with his vast knowledge of aviation and WWII.
Christopher will be truly missed by all who knew and loved him. In his short 23 years he made many friends on line, on X-Box Live, and at local area farmers markets.
He was preceded in death by his beloved grandma Marge Zuzel Wagner, his grandpa Howard Wagner, his uncle Dennis McClaskey and his best friend forever, Greg Poe.
Christopher leaves behind his dad & mom Mark & Cindy, grandparents Charles & Grace McClaskey, John & Mary Zuzel & Mary Lamberson. Uncle Michael Zuzel (Cynthia Tank), Aunt Heather Zuzel (Jim Wilson), Aunt Tammie (Lyn) Aevermann, Aunt Becky (Jim) Forth, and many cousins, extended family and friends including his best X-Box friend, Michael (Caboose) Sweet and his beloved dogs Luke and Fergus and cat Simba.
In Christopher's final weeks he became a member of Nampa's First Church of the Nazarene, something he was very proud of, with special thanks to Michael Weibe for his hard work at getting him his membership.
Christopher's family would like to thank Heart N' Home Hospice for their excellent care with special thanks to Brandy his devoted nurse and Mary Lu his wonderful social worker. Also the excellent care he received from Dr's Andersen, Sawyer, Forsythe, Pulver and the staff at Boise & Caldwell St. Alphonsus Cancer Care Centers.
Memorial service and a celebration of his life will be held on Thursday September 29, 2011, at 1 PM at Nampa's First Church of the Nazarene 601 16th Ave. So. Nampa Idaho. Flowers may be sent to the church or donations may be made in his name to The Ryan J. Poe Foundation, Wish Granters Inc. or The Children's Tumor Foundation.

.....For each of us is created to die,
And within me I know
I was born to fly.

Dear Mark and Cindy,
As parents, you did all you could everyday to help make Christopher's life healthy and full. Losing a child is the worst possible thing that can befall a parent. Suzie and I struggle each day with the loss of our Ehren Lynne, however, we have learned that it is not ours to question why the Lord chooses the people he does, when he does, to return home. We know in our hearts that our lives and the lives of all those who love Ehren are enriched for having loved her. You and all those that love Christopher will cherish all the wonderful times together. Christopher will forever live in your hearts. You will continue to be in our thoughts and prayers. Love, Suzie and Carmine

We remember Christopher fondly from time spent at the Boise
Farmer's Market, some years ago. Even then, his great interest
in airplanes was apparent. Bruce brought his some pictures
of WWII planes.

Our thoughts are with you.

I am so sorry for the loss of your dear loved one. It's comforting to know that God cares for all of us and losing a loved one is something we cannot get use to. The Bible gives us hope that one day we can see our dear loved one again. On behalf of all mankind Jesus surrender his soul for many. John 15:13 says “No one has love greater than this, that someone should surrender his soul on behalf of his friends.” Truly I am sorry to hear of the loss of your dear loved one and I hope these few words will bring you comfort and hope.
