Betty Jo Adamson, 82, of New Plymouth, passed away Wednesday, March 28, 2012 in Ontario, OR. A viewing for family and friends will be held from 4-7 p.m., Monday, April 2nd at Shaffer-Jensen Memory Chapel, New Plymouth. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, April 3rd at the Church of the Nazarene, 1980 7th Ave. N, Payette. Services are under the direction of Shaffer-Jensen Memory Chapel, New Plymouth. Betty Jo was born in Billings, MT to John and Marjory Williamson on Aug. 2, 1929. She was the fifth of eight children and attended school in Billings. In the fall of 1947, she enrolled in Northwest Nazarene College in Nampa, ID where she met J. Ralph Adamson. They married in Billings in June 1948 and settled in Nampa where they raised six girls.
After the girls were older, Jo worked for a short time in the kitchen of the Nampa Christian School and volunteered at the Fairview and Bethel Nazarene churches and the More For Less thrift shop.
Ralph and Jo moved to New Plymouth in 2001 and began attending the Payette Nazarene Church. Together they volunteered at the New Plymouth Senior Center until her health deteriorated. She also loving required hugs and freely gave back rubs.
She is survived by Ralph, her husband of 63 years; two brothers and three sisters; and her six girls, Kay Parvin (Stu), Marie Cates (Bill), Carol Lass (Larry), Darlene Keebaugh (Jim), Stella Goll (Stephen), and Linda Opdahl (Jim); 19 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.
Jo was preceded in death by four babies, her parents, a brother and a sister.
Memorials may be given in her honor to WYCLIFF (Bible Translators), New Plymouth Senior Center, Boise Rescue Mission, the Food Bank, or Campus Crusade for Christ, c/o Shaffer-Jensen Memory Chapel, P.O. Box 730, Payette, ID 83661.
