Wenona Ellen Hicks
May 27, 1929 - February 6, 2013
Wenona Ellen (Anderson) Hicks, age 83, went home to be with Jesus on February 6, 2013.
Wenona was born May 27, 1929 near Washington, Iowa where she lived with her loving Christian parents, Carl and Murial Anderson. Wenona married the love of her life, Wade Leroy Hicks, in Loveland, Colorado on May 10th 1948. Wenona was first, and always, a loving supportive wife and mother, then a business partner with her husband Wade. Her greatest passion was getting her family together. Everyone was always included and welcome! They've opened their homes and business to friends and family many times. Wenona's optimistic outlook on life and faith that God was working it all out at the right time in the right way has been a wonderful Christian example to so many. In her last days in which she could hardly speak, she praised her Lord with "Thank You Jesus" to everyone she met. She kept her Bible close, holding it under her arm that had been immobilized by a stroke 11 years ago. Wenona's zest for life was contagious while she shared her love of cooking, gardening, sewing and quilt making, letter writing, scrapbooking, reading and gift giving with family and friends. She loved the mountains, ocean, nature, and enjoyed collecting rocks and bird or butterfly knickknacks. Over the last few years, although she had difficulty writing, every quarter Wenona sent 60 devotional books to friends and relatives with a heartfelt message in each. She will be dearly missed!
She is survived by her husband Wade Hicks, children; Beth (Paul) Coonts, Marlin Hicks, Ann (Brett) Carl, Evan (Barbara) Hicks, siblings; Keith (Char) Anderson, Carlen (Ester) Anderson, and Marsha (Bernard) Cristie, 18 grandchildren, and 18 great-grandchildren.
Viewing will be held Friday February 15, 2013 at 12:00 pm with services to follow at 1:00 pm at College Church of the Nazarene, 504 E. Dewey, Nampa. Burial will be at Kohlerlawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Campus Crusade for Christ, account #0578869, or the family at 1316 1st St. N. Nampa, ID 83687 for assistance with the services.
