Joan was born November 20, 1933 at Kearney, Nebraska to Winona Packer and Raymond Owens. She was raised by Marshall Packer in Ontario, Oregon, where Joan attended school. Growing up, Joan helped farm with her family in both Ontario and Marsing, Idaho and also worked at the Owyhee Bowling Alley in Homedale that her parents built in 1959.
Joan moved to Heyburn, Idaho in 1962, then moved to Middleton in 1972. Joan was an avid Middleton Viking fan and supported Middleton's sports for years. She never missed a game that her son played in and later attended all of her granddaughter's games as well. Joan was also very supportive of her grandson's participation in Special Olympics. She truly enjoyed her family and will be deeply missed by all of us who loved her.
Joan is survived by 3 sons, Gordon (Penny) Reed, Richard (Rosie) Ker and Steven Ker; a daughter, Dorothy (Mike) Collins; 6 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by an infant daughter, a sister, and her parents.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Special Olympics Caldwell Wildcats, c/o Terri Elordi, 3304 Iowa Ave, Caldwell, ID 83605.
