H. Hugh Swim
On May 22, 2013 H. Hugh Swim gently passed from this life and was reunited with this beloved wife Helen. Dad died from the natural causes incident to age and living a full life. He passed away with his family close by in both thoughts and actions and blessed their lives with the tender mercies shown by him and the Lord in his life and in his passing.
Hollister Hugh Swim was born August 18, 1927 in Pocatello, Idaho to Frank William and Hazel Cora Daharsh Swim. He was raised as a farm boy on the family homestead in Arbon Valley and the second home his mother and father kept in Pocatello so that their kids could be well educated. As an adult Hugh entered the United States Navy
and served to the end of World War II
. In 1949 he was working with his father in Lava Hot Springs and met and wed Helen Lorraine Wilson Swim on April 10, 1949. They were later sealed as a couple and family in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Father farmed in both Eastern and Western Idaho and was well known for his equipment innovations. Dad was highly thought of in Marsh Valley and served as the Mayor for McCammon, Lions Club President, Little League Umpire and organizer, community leader and friend to those he met. His word was his bond and he did his best to live the Gospel of Jesus Christ after joining The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and throughout the remainder of his mortal life. He served in many callings in the church which included teaching, scouting, Bishopric, as a Bishop and High Counselor, as a faithful home teacher, and as a committed member and loyal friend to those he touched though out his life. Hugh and Helen served an LDS mission in the Albuquerque New Mexico Mission.
He was preceded in death by his wife, parents and all of his siblings and all of his adult peers. He is survived by his children: daughter Sherri Davies (Bill), son David (Karla), daughter Linda Manville (Rae), daughter Laura Williams (Norman), son Zane (Christine), daughter Kathleen Manco Sistrunk (Jay), and son Bill. Dad is also survived by numerous grandchildren, and an ever increasing posterity of great- grandchildren and great- great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, May 31, 2013 at the Melba Third Ward LDS Chapel, 112 S. Randolph Ave in Melba. A viewing will be held from 6-8 p.m. Thursday, May 30 at Zeyer Funeral Chapel, 83 N Midland Blvd, Nampa (467-7300) and at the church from 11:30-12:45 p.m. Friday, prior to the services. A luncheon and celebration of dad's life will be held for all in attendance at the funeral. Please come and celebrate with us. Burial will take place on Saturday, June 1, at 1:00 p.m. at the Lava Hot Springs Cemetery, Lava Hot Springs, Idaho with a short graveside service followed by a luncheon and celebration of dad's life for all in attendance to be held at the Lava Hot Springs LDS Ward building.
