Wade Allred Obituary

Wade Allred
CHUBBUCK - Wade Gibson Allred, 77, passed away peacefully at Portneuf Medical Center on Tuesday, April 19, 2011.
Wade was born October 6, 1933 in Ogden, Utah, to Frederick Wade and Annie May Allred. The family moved to Idaho and he was raised on the family farm in Rigby. Wade served in the U.S. Navy from 1951 to 1955 as a seaman on the USS Ross.  While in the service, he met his loving wife, Joan Miller. They were married on December 3, 1953, in Winchester, Virginia. After his discharge from the Navy they moved to Idaho. Wade attended Idaho State College and studied auto body repair.  In 1961, along with his business partner, Jack Lewis, he opened Modern Collision. The name was later changed to Jade Auto and his son, Ronald, manages the shop today. This year marks the 50th anniversary of the business.
He enjoyed spending time at his cabin in Palisades, playing with his grandchildren and managing his business. He was the envy of all his neighbors for his beautiful yard. He will always be remembered for his dry sense of humor and quick wit. Not everyone knew his middle name was Gibson because he was affectionately known as "Wade the Great."
Wade is survived by his wife, Joan; two sons, Allan (Shannon) and Ronald (Becky); two daughters, Sharon (Ron) Weaver, Pocatello, Idaho, and Shirleen (Dick) Coleman, Hailey, Idaho; two sisters, Beatrice Baldwin, Kaysville, Utah, and Janette (Guy) Brinkerhoff, Murray, Utah; 10 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Wade was preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Jack Allred, and granddaughter, Rebecca Marie Weaver.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, April 22, 2011, at the Wilks Funeral Home, 211 W. Chubbuck Road, Chubbuck. A viewing will begin at 12:30 p.m. prior to the services on Friday at the funeral home. Interment will follow in the Mountain View Cemetery. Military rites will be provided by the Pocatello Veteran's Honor Guard.
The family asks that donations be made in his name to the Cancer Patient Assistance Fund c/o Portneuf Health Care Foundation 850 E. Young St., Pocatello, Idaho 83201, or the Idaho State Veterans Home 1957 Alvin Ricken Drive Pocatello, Idaho 83201.
Arrangements are under the direction of Wilks Funeral Home 238-8000. Condolences may be sent to the family online at www.wilksfuneralhome.com.
