Kenneth Botts Obituary

Kenneth Botts
DAVENPORT, Wash. - Kenneth Botts, age 89, passed away on May 12, 2011, in Davenport, Wash.
His surviving sister, Bessie Benson, would like to add a eulogy for Kenneth Botts. She says she was the pesty little sister that followed him through life:
"Kenneth attended schools in Pocatello. Kenneth was two years older than I. After he graduated from Pocatello High School he went to work for Western Union. He worked there until World War II started and he enlisted right away in the service in some sort of communication unit. They were right away shipped to Florida and then overseas to northern Africa. About all he ever told us about was that they built a telephone line across Africa up into Italy.
Toward the end of this period of time our father became sick and my mom contacted the Red Cross and they made it possible for Ken to come home on emergency furlough.
He was then stationed in California, where he married his childhood sweetheart, Opal Murray. Then they were moved to Spokane, Washington. At this time they were mustered out of the service. Ken went to work with the telephone company there and they soon sent him to Coulee Dam, where he worked on communication lines.
His first wife preceded him in death. Ken then married Betty. Betty has been a wonderful wife."
He was a member of the Creston Christian Church. He was also involved in Boy Scouts, Creston City Council, Creston Community Club and Habitat for Humanity. He was a member of the Creston Volunteer Fire Department and a former Wilbur VFW member. He served on the board of the Lincoln County Housing Authority.
He is survived by his wife, Betty; his three children, Susan Trzcinski of Anacortes, Wash., Nancy Bargar of Port Angeles, Wash., and Allan Botts of Bellingham, Wash.; three stepchildren, Janet Linder of Orofino, Idaho, Jeanne DeBord of Lincoln, Wash., and Jeri Madison of Davenport, Wash.; nine grandchildren, five great-grandchildren; one sister, Bessie Benson of Pocatello, Idaho; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Opal, and his parents.
Funeral services were held Monday, May 16 at Creston Christian Church, Creston, Washington. He is interred at Creston Cemetery in Creston, Wash.
Memorials may be made to the Creston Christian Church, the Creston ambulance or to the Lincoln Hospital Foundation.
Strate Funeral Home, Wilbur, Wash., is caring for the family.
