Alice Hatch Obituary

CHUBBUCK - Alice Faye Hatch, 87, lifelong resident of Pocatello and Chubbuck passed away Monday, May 30, 2011 at a local care center following an extended illness surrounded by many of her family.
She was born January 6, 1924 in Pocatello, a daughter of Gustav and Sophia Chandler Lindgren. She attended schools in Pocatello and graduated from Pocatello High School. She graduated from the Idaho State University Vo-Tech School of Cosmetology and operated her own beauty salon for many years. She later became an instructor at the school of cosmetology and also served on the State of Idaho Cosmetology Licensing Board. She also served on the ISU Staff Counseling Committee.
She was a member of Soroptimist International and the Idaho Hairdressers Association and served as president of both. She was an accomplished violinist and was first chair in the Idaho State Symphonic Orchestra for many years. 
On January 31, 1946, she married Elwood Anderson in the Idaho Falls Temple. He passed away March 2, 1971. She married Hugh J. Hatch, August 18, 1971 in Pocatello, Idaho. She was a member of the L.D.S. Church and had served in many callings including Relief Society President, primary teacher, visiting teacher and ward dance director. She started collecting dolls when she was twelve years old and has a large collection. She has given away many dolls to handicapped children for many years through the Chubbuck Lions Club. Alice was a very kind and compassionate person. She was a friend to all. She will be greatly missed by her family and many friends.
She is survived by her loving husband, Hugh J. Hatch, Chubbuck, Idaho; 2 sons, Terry Anderson, Pocatello, Idaho; Karl (Ellen) Anderson, McCammon, Idaho; 4 daughters, Janet (Jack) Obray, Mackay, Idaho; Michele (Brian) Reddish, Soda Springs, Idaho; Sherrie Hatch, Provo, Utah; Sue Hatch, Provo, Utah; an honorary daughter, Fayone Wood, Inkom, Idaho; a sister, Dorothy Gertch, Pocatello, Idaho. 27 grandchildren, 69 great-grandchildren and 6 great-great-grandchildren, 5 honorary grandchildren and 14 honorary great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Elwood Anderson, a son, Jim Anderson, 2 sisters, Pearl Archibald and Delores Smith. 
Funeral services will be held Saturday, June 4, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at the Chubbuck L.D.S. Chapel on the corner of Hawthorne Road and W. Chubbuck Road with James R. Manriquez of the Chubbuck 4th Ward officiating. Interment will be in Restlawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends on Friday evening from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. at Manning-Wheatley Funeral Chapel, 510 N. 12th Ave. and Saturday from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m. at the church. Hugh, So sorry for your loss. Please know that I am thinking of you, and hope that you are doing good. I live in Shelley now so do not get to see many of my old friends. But I do think of them often and wish you the best of everything. Hope everything goes well for you. Wayne Newby
