Elven 'Ray' Robinson
POCATELLO- Elven "Ray" Robinson passed away at the Idaho State Veteran's Home on June 5, 2011, at the age of 86.
Ray was born to Henry Lawrence and Fern (Peck) Robinson on December 5, 1924, and grew up in Rockland, Idaho. He was brother to 11 siblings, Wilda, Bernice, Henry "Lawrence," Ruth, Clifton, Myrl, Gordon, Max, Elden "Jay" (his twin brother), Dwayne "Curtis" and Hazel "Beth."
He met his wife and "sweetheart," Veda, and they were married on March 18, 1944, prior to him serving in the U.S. Army during World War II in Italy.
After the war, he and Veda were sealed in the Idaho Falls Temple. They settled down in American Falls, Idaho, where they were blessed with five children, Clifton and Clinton, followed by Gordon, Julie, and Laurie.
Ray worked in Ford's Garage as a mechanic and later worked in maintenance at Westvaco, which became FMC. He was a VFW boxing coach, and his three sons all participated in boxing. For many years, he was involved in Scouting, along with his wife, Veda. He also loved hunting, fishing, horseback riding, and spending time with his family.
Ray and Veda moved to Inkom, Idaho in 1972, where they enjoyed living in the country. They adopted their little girl, Melody, who was later sealed to them in the Idaho Falls Temple.
Ray served an 18-month mission with Veda, in the Tulsa, Oklahoma Mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and enjoyed teaching the gospel and serving others.
Ray rejoined his Heavenly Father and beloved family members including his wife, Veda, daughter, Melody, and his grandson, Clay Robinson. He is survived by his children, Clifton (Nola) Robinson, Inkom, Clinton (Galene) Robinson, Weston, Gordon (Dona) Robinson, Inkom, Julie (Marvin) Siler, Inkom, and Laurie (Charlie) Atkinson, Lewiston, Utah.
Ray was the last living child of Henry Lawrence Robinson and Fern Peck Robinson. He was also preceded in death by his parents and his 11 brothers and sisters.
He will be greatly missed by his family including his 31 grandchildren and 69 great-grandchildren, who will always have fond memories of "Grandpa" and the way he teased and made them smile.

Viewing for Ray will be held on Friday, June 10 at Colonial Funeral Home, 2005 South Fourth Avenue from 6 to 8 p.m. Ray's funeral will be held on Saturday, June 11 at 11 a.m., with a viewing from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. in the new LDS Church located at 150 Snowpeak Avenue, Inkom, Idaho.
