Sarah 'Aniece' Alder
MALAD CITY - Sarah Ann "Aniece" Parkinson Alder, longtime Malad resident, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 17, 2011, following a short illness.
Born December 4, 1925, Wellsville, Utah, she was the youngest daughter of LeRoy Woodward and Violet Cooper Parker Parkinson. She attended elementary and junior high in Wellsville, and attended South Cache High School, Hyrum, Utah.
She married Kay Campbell Alder in the Logan LDS Temple on September 8, 1943. They lived in Providence, Utah, moving to Malad City in 1949. With the exception of "snow-birding" in Yuma, Arizona for several winters, she considered herself a Malad City resident for more than 60 years.
She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, she served in many positions throughout her life.
She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who delighted in pleasing them all. Cooking and various needle workings were among her favorite ways to please. She will be greatly missed.
Aniece is survived by her husband, Kay; a son, Mark (Irene) Alder (Malad, Idaho); and three daughters, Lynda (Rick) Holbrook (Salt Lake City, Utah), Janice
(Sheldon) Vaughan (Malad, Idaho), and Karen (Tim) Williams (Smithfield, Utah); 14 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, Leon Brent "Lonnie" Alder, and a great-grandson, her parents, three sisters and four brothers.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 21 in the Malad Fourth Ward Chapel, 60 South 100 West at noon. Friends may call on Friday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Horsley Funeral Home, 132 West 300 North, and at the Fourth Ward Chapel on Saturday for one hour prior to the services.
The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, a donation to your favorite charity in "Aniece's" name be made. Friends and family are invited to share condolences by visiting www.horsleyfuneralhome.com.
