Elvira Ann passed away at a local assisted living facility March 9, 2014. She was born July 15, 1937 in Logan, Utah to Frank Hughes and Lillian Deschamps Atkinson. Ann was the youngest of five children. She attended Logan Senior High School. Ann was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day-Saints and attended faithfully as a child with her family. After the death of her parents she lived with her sister Shirley Naylor in Logan and then moved to Ogden where she lived with her grandparents, Frank and Margaret Atkinson.
She married Richard Denny Holmes August 27, 1962 in Las Vegas, Nevada and they resided in Pocatello all of their married life. They were married for 50 years. From this marriage she gained a step-daughter, Cathy. Ann spent most of her life helping and caring for older people in need. She cared for her aging "Aunt Annie" for several years. She worked in nursing homes and spent time helping the elderly in the trailer court where she lived. Ann enjoyed gardening, yard work, camping and fishing and making craft items. She made adorable felt angels and felt animals, dolls, jewelry and enjoyed making animals and several items with beads.
Ann is preceded in death by her parents, a brother Frank Atkinson and a sister Shirley (Melvin) Naylor. She is survived by two sisters, Beverly (Gerald) Byington in Wellsville, Utah and Lillian (Jay) Nielsen in Twin Fall, Idaho, step-daughter Cathy Holmes, step-grandson, Rick (Christa) Neifert and step-great grandchildren Rodney and Machaela Neifert, all of Pocatello.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, March 13, 2014 from 11:00 - 11:30 a.m. in the Cornelison Fuenral Home, 431 North 15th Ave. Pocatello where services will begin at 11:30 and conclude at 12 noon. Graveside services will be held at 12:15 p.m. in Restlawn Memorial Gardens, Pocatello. Condolences may be sent to the family online at www.cornelisonfh.com.
