William "Bill" Peters, 71, of Pocatello, ID, passed away May 25, 2014. Bill was born in Seattle, WA, on February 15, 1943 to William Peters, Jr., and Myrtle Airlie Grant. Bill graduated from Glacier High School in 1961. He attended Highline College earning an AA in Business and Personnel Management.
On October 19, 1962, Bill married his high school sweetheart, Elaine Marie Bierce. The Lord called her home on August 28, 1972. Through mutual friends Bill met Margaret Carol Roll in 1975. Bill and Margaret were married in Craig, CO, on May 14, 1976.
Bill served in the US Army from 1961 to 1967. He was a helicopter mechanic and pilot. He had the opportunity to have President John F. Kennedy ask him if his helicopter was ready for the Bay of Pigs invasion to which he replied "Yes, sir." After the president's death, he then performed helicopter security duty over President Lyndon Johnson's ranch.
Besides Bill's love of fishing, he enjoyed motorcycles, even racing Dukati bikes while living in Spokane, WA. He rode in the Lawman 1000 in Montana helping to raise money for the Make-A-Wish Foundation. Bill enjoyed rodeos and watching stock car racing in both Missoula and Pocatello (go BTF racing team!). He had many friends in the Missoula Police Department that he rode with on their beat as a citizen's observer. Bill did not have any children, but felt he had 14 kids by hosting foreign exchange students from Sweden, Hong Kong, Japan, Germany, Brazil, Australia, and France. His true passion, of course, was fishing.
Bill is survived by his wife, Margaret, mother-in-law, Alice Bierce of Seattle, brother-in-law, Don Bierce of Seattle, brother-in-law Charles Roll, sister-in-law, Nancy Wiseman, both of Cheyenne, WY, nephew Richard Peters of Yakima, WA, nieces Cassandra Wiseman and Samantha Wiseman of Cheyenne, WY.
