Lillian Smith
May 29, 1917 - July 28, 2014
Lillian Elizabeth Raby Smith, passed away Monday, July 28th at a local Healthcare Center. She was born in Payette ID to Samuel and Pansy (Allen) Raby on May 29th 1917. She lived a full life of 97 years. She was the oldest of six children growing up on the family farm. After graduating from high school she went to work for the County Agent as a secretary. She married Milton Smith on June 18th 1939 and they had two children. They moved around Idaho with Milt's job until they settled in Pocatello where they started their own business with Lillian doing all the ordering and bookkeeping as well as taking care of the family! She enjoyed spending time at their cabin in Mackay Idaho, hunting, fishing and just enjoying the outdoors.
She was an active member of the Presbyterian Church in Pocatello.
She did her fair share of care taking during her life so the family would like to thank The Gables staff for all their care in her last months.
She is survived by her sister Beth Thomsen, Boise ID and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, children Gary Smith and Darlene Zarwell, brothers Eugene 'Jack' and Samuel Jr., sisters Pearl Gallegos and Hazel Mogensen.
Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday, August 6, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. in the First Presbyterian Church, corner of Lewis and 7th Street, Pocatello, with Pastor Steve Knudson officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the Church. Interment will follow in the Mountain View Cemetery.
