Sue Anderson
January 2, 1947 ~ August 10, 2014
Sue Anderson, of Boise, passed away on Sunday, August 10, 2014 at a Boise hospital. She was born to Jim and Florence Dodds on January 2, 1947 which was also her Mother's birthday. She had two sisters, Jeannie and Dee Dee Dodds. She was raised mainly by her stepmother, Shirley Dodds in Caldwell and various northwest cities as her dad was a cattle buyer.
In 1965, she married Joe Doan and had two children, Cindy Cowdery (Cameron) and Brandon Doan. After living in Philomoth, OR and Sumpter, OR, she spent the next twenty years in Nampa, where Joe was a partner in Nampa Livestock Sales Yard and Sue ran the cafe.
As a girl, she was proud to have Vivian Vance (Ethel Mertz on "I Love Lucy") as her Aunt and received birthday and Christmas cards from Lucille Ball. She and her sisters also had dinner with Audie Murphy at The Saratoga in Caldwell. Sue then owned a Merle Norman Cosmetics store at Karcher Mall.
After a divorce, Sue married Albert "Duke" Anderson on her birthday, January 2, 1991 and lived in Boise. She worked as the Clinique counter manager at the Mode and Bon Marche.
Sue and Duke were able to take several Caribbean cruises, numerous trips to Mexico with her Nampa friends, and enjoyed the past six years on Waikiki Beach in Honolulu.
Sue was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her daughter, Cindy Cowdery (Cameron) and grandson, Cash; son, Brandon Doan; stepson, Todd Anderson and step grandson, Carson Anderson; and her sisters, Jeannie and Dee Dee Dodds.
There will be a Celebration of Life Gathering on Sunday, August 17, 2014 from 1-3 p.m. at El Korah Shrine, 1118 W. Bannock Street, Boise. The family is having a private memorial graveside service at The Idaho State Veterans Cemetery.
