Ben Callan Bopp
1942 ~ 2014
Ben Callan Bopp, beloved husband, father, and friend passed away suddenly at the age of 71 on January 7, 2014 while wintering in Indio, CA. Ben, an avid outdoors-man throughout his life, loved spending time with his family. He especially enjoyed hunting with his sons, fishing and camping with all, attending his grandson's sporting events with his daughter, and traveling the world with his beloved wife. He was also an avid race walker, and began competing in marathons at the age of 55. On his 65th birthday, the self proclaimed "Mr. Marvelous", whose laugh was recognized by all, completed his 65th marathon. At the time of his death, he had completed 83 marathons, well on his way to his goal of 100.
Ben is survived by his wife ReNae, son Richard and wife Michelle, daughter Cyndi and grandsons Connor and Matthew, son Phil and wife Carol, and his sister Carol Cowan.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday January 25th at 11:00am at Grace Lutheran Church located at 710 E 17th Ave in Eugene, OR. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to LIFE Lutheran School.
