Wideau, Mary Lee
Mary Lee Tibbs-Wideau February 17, 1921 ~ April 24, 2015 Mary Lee Tibbs-Wideau passed away at home April 24, 2015. Born Feb 17, 1921, one of nine children, to John and Mary E. Thompson, in Santa Rita, New Mexico, she spent her childhood through graduation in Arizona. Her marriage to George C. Tibbs on Dec 6, 1941 brought the blessings of sons Steven Curtis, James Allen and daughter, Sally Georgeanne. Life with a pilot took her from Logan, UT to Anchorage, AK, to Seattle, WA. Following the death of her husband on Nov 23, 1958, when his plane went down off the coast of Alaska, she moved her family to Boise, ID where she completed the St Luke's Nursing Program in Sept 1962. She worked at Boise St Luke's, Nampa Mercy Hospital, and the Idaho State School and Hospital. In May of 1962 she married Vince Wideau, who blessed her with another daughter, Margaret Jean, and they moved to Homedale, ID to farm. Upon the death of her husband in Nov 1988, she moved into town where she spent some of the happiest years of her life. Mom considered herself a survivor. She came through the Depression and sadly lost two husbands. She could build anything, loved a good book, and her morning walks along the Snake River. She crocheted many keepsake afghans for friends and family. She loved and appreciated the kindness of her daughters-in-law and son-in-law, and looked forward to her weekly phone calls from Sis and Steve and emails from Margaret from around the world. She lived simply and her needs and wants were few. She loved Sees candy (nuts and chews--no creams!) Mom was fiercely proud of all of her children and their accomplishments, and was most excited when she became a Grandmother to Samuel Curtis and Maili Nei Tibbs. It was pure joy when she became "Gigi" to her only great-grandson, Henry Samuel Hays on Aug 1, 2013. Mary Lee is survived by her sons Steve (Sandy) Tibbs Bishop, CA, Jim (Sally Ann) Tibbs Boise, ID, daughter Margaret Wideau, grandchildren Sam Tibbs, Maili (Ryan) Hays, great-grandson Henry Hays, Boise, ID, son-in-law Ted Lapis, Sheridan, WY, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, siblings---Jack, James, Elizabeth, Blanche, Martin, Betty Jo, Edward, Margaret Jean, and her sweet, talented daughter Sally G.Tibbs-Lapis. Mom spoke with ease about what comes next after this life, and she believed in God and heaven--she said "I think it will be exciting!" She left this for us--- Miss Me, But Let Me Go When I come to the end of the road and the sun has set for me, I want no rites in a gloom-filled room-why cry for a soul set free? Miss me a little, but not too long, and not with your head bowed low. Remember the love we once shared-Miss me and let me go. For this is the journey that we all must take, and each must go alone! It's all a part of the Master's plan-a step on the road home. When you are lonely and sick of heart, go to the friends we know, and bury your sorrow in doing good deeds, Miss me---but let me go! We will miss you, Mom--Grandma--Gigi--Auntie. The family has planned a private celebration of her life to be held on Mother's Day. Condolences and remembrances for the family may be left at www.summersfuneral.com .
