Rankin, Faun H. - Boise
Faun H. Rankin 1922 ~ 2016 Faun H. Rankin, 94, resident of Boise, Idaho and former teacher, died on Sunday, April 24, 2016 at Grace Memory Care in Meridian. Faun was born on April 20, 1922 in Newdale, Idaho to Paul and Elsie Haack. She moved to Ashton, Idaho in 1924 where she grew up and graduated from high school in 1940. She attended Idaho State University for one year and then moved to Long Beach, California where she worked for Douglas Aircraft during WWII. She married Joseph Rankin in Ashton, Idaho in 1946. They farmed for seventeen years in Grainville and Greentimber. She attended United Methodist Church and was a member of the Eastern Star. Faun and Joe divorced in 1967 and she moved to Boise with her children. She enrolled at Boise State University with her son Ronald and they graduated together with degrees in education. She substituted in the Boise School District for several years. Faun became an avid Boise State football fan when her grandson, Bryan Harsin, became head coach. She would always call a family member to see what channel the game was on, so we would tell her to just look for the blue turf. Faun is survived by her children: Ron Rankin of Boise; Susan Anderson of Boise; Becki Harsin of Boise; and Trish Calonge (Jay) of Ashton, Idaho; 12 grandchildren: Cory, Jenni, Lisa, Heather, Denni, Heidi, Bryan, Brad, Jayme, Joe, Ian and Tara; and numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her brother Clayton Haack and her granddaughter Heidi Nichols. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at Grace Memory Care in Meridian and Horizon Hospice for their compassion and kindness while Faun was in their care. A service will be held on Saturday, April 30, 2016 at 11 am in the Chapel of Cloverdale Funeral Home, 1200 N. Cloverdale Rd., Boise. A viewing will be held from 10-11 am prior to the service. Interment will follow in Dry Creek Cemetery. To share memories and leave condolences for the family, please visit Faun's memorial page at www.cloverdalefuneralhome.com

Riggers, Fred Allen - Boise
Fred Riggers 1942 ~ 2016 Fred Riggers passed away suddenly on April 26, 2016. Fred was born to John and Thelma Simmons Riggers on December 20, 1942 and lived and worked on the family farm in Nezperce until his mid-50's. He married Mary Lou Wilson Riggers in 1964 and she survives him at their home in Boise. Fred is also survived by his two children: son, Leonard and his wife, Kathy Riggers of Knoxville, TN; and his daughter, Lynda and her husband, Jody Wolters of Boise, ID; as well as his grandchildren: Jordan, Adam and Hunter, Ryan, Stephanie, Dylan and Karly. He is also survived by his sister, Susan Whipple. Fred was an avid hunter and snowmobiler and active in his community in Nezperce in the Jaycees, Lions, and volunteer fire department. He spent his career farming the land he loved. Fred's life dramatically changed with the loss of his sight 20 years ago and his new chapter began. He and Mary moved to Boise where he watched his grandsons grow up, became an advocate for the blind community including spending two years in an appointed position taking him back to Washington D.C. for advocacy matters, getting involved in three local Toastmasters clubs which took him to national and international meetings, being active in Rotary Club, and becoming a fixture at the State Capitol attending every legislative session possible, health permitting, for the past 17 years. Fred had a unique way of bringing strangers home for holiday dinners and empowering people with his words and spirit. He was passionate about living his life to the fullest. There will be a viewing Friday, April 29, 2016 from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at Summers Funeral Homes, 1205 W. Bannock Street, Boise, ID. A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 30, 2016 at Trinity Fellowship Church, 300 N. Latah, Boise, ID 83706. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to a charity of your choice. Memories and condolences may be shared with the family on Fred's memorial webpage at www.summersfuneral.com .
