Arthur Eugene "Mac" McCusker
1931 - 2013
Arthur Eugene "Mac" McCusker set sail for his final voyage July 26, 2013.
Mac, as he was known by his friends, was the first of four sons born to John and Maude (Collins) McCusker of Uniontown, Pennsylvania on December 29, 1931. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Thomas; and his wives: Violet and Nancy. Mac is survived by his step-daughter, Jodie Adams of Boise and her son, Jason; step-sons: Jeff and Melinda West of New Jersey and their children: Megan and Nicholas; Eric and Diane West of Massachusetts and their children: Amy and Joshua; brothers: Bill and Beverly; J.P. and Maggie, all of Manassas, VA along with several nieces and nephews.
Mac served his country honorably for 30 years in the United States Navy
. He entered the Navy on June 6, 1950 as a Seaman Recruit and retired on June 29, 1980 as a Commander. He served during both the Korean and Vietnam War
s. His service was marked with several awards including but not limited to the Navy Commendation Medal with Gold Stars, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal with Devices, Korean Service Medal, United Nations Service Medal, Korean Presidential Medal and Meritorious Service Medal.
After his military career, Mac was employed for 10 years by San Diego defense contractors working on major weapons systems in the electronic warfare field.
Upon moving to Boise from Las Vegas, NV, in 2004, he became very active in his parish, Holy Apostles Catholic Church. His activities in the parish included: an RCIA sponsor and core team member in the RCIA program and Returning Catholics core team member. Mac also served on the Parish Council for a number of years in addition to participating in the church's school feasibility study.
Viewing will begin at 6:00 PM on Monday, July 29th with the recitation of the Rosary followed by the Divine Mercy Chaplet at 7:00 PM. Funeral Mass will be celebrated by Rev. Len MacMillan at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, July 30th. Both services will be held at Holy Apostles Catholic Church, 6300 N. Meridian Rd in Meridian. Viewing and recitation of the Rosary will be held at 12:00 PM on Thursday, August 1st at Palm Mortuary, 6701 N. Jones Blvd in Las Vegas, NV. Burial will follow at Palm Memorial Park - Northwest. Mac will be laid to rest alongside his wife, Nancy. Remembrances may be left for the family at www.AccentFuneral.com
