E.C. "Cy" Scheider
1923 ~ 2013
E. C. "Cy" Scheider passed away at home on February 7, 2013 of natural causes. He was 89 years old. Cy was born on October 1, 1923 in Yakima, Washington and raised on a farm nearby. He served as a squad leader in the army during WWII
and was awarded the European African Middle Eastern Service Medal, American Theatre Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal and Victory Medal. After his discharge, he attended the University of Washington
on the G.I. Bill. Cy carried a "straight A" average and graduated with a degree in Forestry. This was the beginning of a 30 year career in the lumber industry culminating in his tenure as a Group Timberlands Manager for Boise Cascade Corporation.
Cy retired early and spent many of the following years renovating houses, creating wood sculptures, building furniture, fishing, volunteering for conservation projects, playing a little golf and indulging in his great love of skiing. These later two activities were spent in the company of his beloved wife, Carol, who preceded him in death by a year after almost 62 years of marriage. Cy is survived by his son, Carl and granddaughter, Jessica of Boise; and his daughter, Christine of Runnemede, New Jersey; and extended family members, Jackie and Brendan Walker.
No memorial service is planned. You may honor Cy's memory by making a donation to the Bogus Basin Ski Association, directed toward mountain cleanup.
Arrangements are by Summers Funeral Homes, Boise Chapel.
