As a young woman she was an active member of Jobs Daughters Bethel # 48. She also was a Tailor/seamstress in 4-H and received many awards for her talent in sewing and modeling. She was a graduate of Borah High School in Boise Idaho in the class of 1962. She was a member of ABWA (American Business Women's Association) Les Bois Adah and Syringa Chapters. She held many offices and chairmanships and was Woman of the Year several times. During her 30 year membership she attained perfect attendance. She was an instrumental part of the fund raising process for women who were eager to continue their education. Judith also was a member of Eastern Star Chapter Adah #8 and held the position of Worthy Matron and running member of the past Worthy Matrons and Worthy Patrons organization. She was employed at Mountain Bell, US WEST and retired from Qwest after 26 years of service. She was also an active member of the Telephone company Pioneers. She married John Weis in 1963. In 1964 she then remarried Darrell Boyd Southerland and was widowed after 15 years of marriage. She had four children with Darrell, Anthony Paul, Rita Raye, Charlotte Anne and preceded in death by Jennifer Beth. On April 16, 1994 she then married Fred Steven VanOver also known as "Papa". And then became the proud step mother of Angela Larene and Stephanie Earle. Papa is an amazing man who has cared for her as her illness progressed. He is an angel truly sent to our family. We all love him so much.
She was preceded in death by both her parents, her father-in-law, Earl VanOver, her late husband, Darrell, infant daughter, Jennifer and her niece, Heather Stager Gray. She is survived by her husband, Fred Steven VanOver, both her brothers, Michael and Richard Stager and their families. Her three children, Anthony Paul Southerland, Rita Raye Allen and Charlotte Anne Mitchell. Her two step-children, Angela Larene Woodward and Stephanie Earle VanOver. She was the very proud grandmother of 6 grandchildren: Raejean Anne Perry, Stephanie Marie Perry, Jacob Scott Nelson, Justine Renee Nelson, Connor Raye-¬Boyd Allen and Kyle Boyd Allen. She cherished every moment with her 5 great grandchildren.
Judith had the genuine abilities to be kind, generous and incredibly thoughtful almost to a fault. She was always more than willing to help even those who refused to help themselves. She rescued many people and saved many children from the negative impacts of life. She would fight a good fight and would not only just say "always leave em laughin" she would frequently end a phone call with those very laughing words. Her humor was like no other. She would leave singing voice mails that most of us have received. I love you, I love you more, not possible mama.
