Margaret Ann (Johnson) Taylor died peacefully on Sunday night, July 7, 2013 at age 82. She was born January 1, 1931 in Weiser, Idaho, and lived there until age 10 when she moved to Glenns Ferry with her family. Her father Bob Johnson owned Glenns Ferry Cold Storage and Butcher Shop from 1941 to 1962. "Peggy" attended school through her freshman year before leaving to marry George O. "Buster" Taylor in July 1946. They were married for more than 62 years, making their home in Glenns Ferry for over 65 years. Peggy and George adopted their only son Gary in July, 1959.
She was involved in the local Veterans of Foreign Wars Ladies Auxiliary and the Idaho Peace Officers Association for years. She worked at Hansen's Café, Messerole's Market, The Merc Dept. Store, and Magic West Potato Plant before retiring in the late 1980's. She enjoyed Brazilian embroidery, camping with friends in Featherville, rock-hounding and searching the Owyhee hills for early American antiques. Her pride and joy was her house and grounds, and she maintained her impeccable gardens until the spring of 2013 when she was physically unable to continue.
She was proceeded in death by her husband "Buster," her sister June, her parents Bob and Marie Johnson, and various aunts, uncles, cousins and nephews. She is survived by her son Gary, his wife Sarah and their three children: Catherine Reavis, her husband Richard and their daughter Lila, and her grandsons Zachary and Jacob Taylor, her niece Tammy Taylor, and several nephews and cousins.
There will be a graveside inurnment service on Saturday, July 20, 2013 at 10:30 a.m. at Glenn Rest Cemetery, in Glenns Ferry.
The family would like to thank Denise Bingham and Encompass Hospice Services, as well as Tami Gluch and the wonderful staff at Poplar Grove Assisted Living for their loving care during Peggy's final months. We also would like to thank Rost Funeral Home for their professional service.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the Three Island Senior Center, PO Box 263, Glenns Ferry, ID 83623.
