Dr. Milford M. Faylor
June 30, 1918 - April 27, 2013
Dr. Milford M. Faylor, age 94, passed away at his residence in Nampa on April 27, 2013 after a long and successful life. He will be greatly missed.
Milford was the oldest of four sons born to Dr. Milford W. and Vera Faylor in Preston, Idaho on June 30, 1918.
He attended grade school and high school in Nampa. He was an Eagle Scout and served as an assistant counselor at Boy Scout camp at Warm Lake. He was the President of his Senior Class of 1936 at Nampa High School and was the chairman of their class reunions from the 10th to the 64th.
His interest in athletics started when he was in junior high school and he organized a softball team of boys from 13 to 16 years old called the Half Pints who eventually played town teams from local communities. In high school he arranged the first Nampa High School golf team. Golf was his favorite sport as an adult and he played in many tournaments until his arthritis made it impossible. He was runner up in the State Junior Gold Tournament. He and his father played in the State Father and Son Tournament in which they won three years in a row starting in 1935. During one of the golf tournaments at McCall he made a hole in one.
Milford attended College of Idaho for two years, University of Idaho one year, and completed his Dr. of Dentistry in 1944 while serving in the U.S. Army
. In Dental School at U.S.C. he belonged to Alpha, Tau Epsilon as an honorary fraternity member and won the Freshman scholarship award. He was Commissioned as a Lieutenant in the Navy and served at Farragut Naval Base at the Hospital for two years. He returned to active service in 1954 in the Korean War
as a Lieutenant in U.S. Navy

He married Peggy Barr in 1941 and started practicing with his father in March of 1946. They built their own dental clinic in 1952 and were joined in practice by Milford's brother, Dr. Reid Faylor in 1953.
He was a charter member of the Nampa Lions club and a life member of the Nampa Elks which he joined in 1953.
He was the secretary and later President of the Southwest District Dental Association. Milford was elected State President of the Idaho State Dental Association and served in 1965-1966. He was a delegate to the American Dental Association from 1965-1966 and was selected to be a life member of the International College of Dentists.
He loved fishing and took his two sons deep sea fishing on the Washington Coast many summers.
Milford developed Rheumatoid Arthritis and in 1970 had to retire from his dental practice which he sold to Dr. George Keller and carried on by his son, Clint Keller after George's retirement.
Milford and Peggy took many trips together and he enjoyed camping in his motor home, fishing, and photography.
Milford and Peggy were married for seventy wonderful years and shared quite a love story. He is survived by his sons, Jim of Nampa, Dr. Bob Faylor of New York City and daughter Carole Faylor of Seattle. A brother, Dale (JoAnne) Faylor of Boise, sister in laws; Peggy Faylor of Nampa and Catherine Faylor of Saint George, Utah. Granddaughters; Julie Bell of Nampa, Shannon (Delvin) Rauch of Lewiston, Idaho and Melinda, Jennifer, and Natasha Faylor of New York City. Great grandchildren Madeleine and Chase James Bell of Saratoga Springs, Utah and Shelbie and Luke Rauch of Lewiston, Idaho and many nieces and nephews, including special niece, Laura Faylor. Special friends Maxine Randall of Boise, Idaho and Lillian Keithly, Boise, Idaho. A very heart felt thank you to caregivers who have become family, Cheryl Freeman, Anna McBride, Cory Freeman and Brittany Freeman of Nampa, Idaho. Also, thanks to his wonderful office assistants, four of which were; Sylvia Ward, Janet Gustofson, daughter, Carole Faylor, and Inez Jaca, hygienist.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret (Peggy) Faylor, two brothers, Dr. Reid Faylor and Gale Faylor.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, May 2, 2013 from 5-7 pm at Alsip & Persons Funeral Chapel, 404 10th Ave. So., Nampa. Funeral services will be held on Friday, May 3, 2013 at 10:30 am at Alsip & Persons Funeral Chapel and Milford will be laid to rest at Cloverdale Cemetery, Boise.
