Forever grateful for Caleb and his comrades that faithfully show up and serve in the mist of our disasters. I think of Caleb and his ultimate sacrifice often. I was honored to meet Lynnette and David when they visited Mineral Wells many years ago following that fateful day. Rest easy young man. Gone, but never forgotten.

Merry Christmas my little baby elf! Your first Christmas, you and your cousin Michael were sitting together in a lazyboy chair, you were all of 6 pounds, and Michael I think was double that. We all still laugh at the pic, Michael put his hand over your face!! That pic is a treasure now. I miss you so very much, your smile, your laugh, just you, your big bear hugs that I thought would break me, what I wouldn't give to have one of those now.
Much love now and forever,
your mom

Our deepest sympathy to Caleb's Family, the Bonneville Hotshot Crew, and to all of Caleb's friends. My husband is a retired fireman (over 37 years of service) and our son-in-law is a Hotshot. The Hotshot teams are a tight knit group, consider themselves brothers, and work at a very hard job- usually on the front line. They love what they do - as did Caleb. May you all be blessed with your memories of Caleb.

I remember the desk where Caleb sat in my high school English class. I see his great, genuine smile. I hear his thoughtful debate. He was curious, kind, unique, and willing.

I’m lighting all healing lights for you, Seth, and your family.

My thoughts and prayers go out to the Hamm family. Caleb was making a difference in the fight to save families, homes, pets, livestock, and wildlife. I don't know if Caleb and his crew helped with the White Hat Fire in Nolan County, Texas. However, wherever the hotshot crew was sent, Caleb and his band of hotshots and firemen have the heartfelt thanks and gratitude for their services. I know we have Utah and Idaho crews staying here in Sweetwater. We wouldn't be as fortunate as we have been without all the help from out of state who came to our rescue in our time of need. God bless Caleb, his family and friends.

Dear Hamm Family,
Please accept my deepest sorrows and condolences. For at John 6:40, God’s words gives us hope. “For this is what the will of my Father is, that everyone that beholds the Son and exercise faith in him should have everlasting life, and I will resurrect him at the last day.” We can take comfort in knowing that what God promise’s he will make come true. May you continue to look deep into God’s word for he gives comfort to all those seeking him.

I wish to send my heartfelt condolences to Caleb's family. We in the BLM know the dangers all too well of wildland firefighting. While I did not know him personally, I consider him to be a true patriot and warrior. God Bless Your Family in the trying time.

I was Caleb's adviser when he was a student in the University of Idaho's Ecology and Conservation Biology program.

He was a truly exceptional young man. His most immediate facade was one of non-conformism and a joyful reveling in diversity and creativity.

At a deeper level, however, he was a true citizen- dedicated to scholarship, deeply concerned about the state of his community, country and world. He was exceptionally bright and talented- a genuine questioner.

He was also one of the kindest, most warm-hearted students that I've worked with. I observed numerous instances of Caleb reaching out to his fellow students and other peers, recognizing people who were struggling or awkward and lending them his warmth and humor.

The world is a poorer place without Caleb. My most heartfelt sympathies and my prayers are with everyone connected to him.
