Audrey Harvey Obituary

Audrey B. Harvey 1913 ~ 2011 Audrey B. Harvey, 97, of Boise, died Thursday, April 22, 2011, at her Willow Park residence. Mrs. Harvey was born September 13, 1913 in Fairfield, Nebraska to Cyrus F. and Martha Jane (Woods) Westcott. Audrey spent her working years as a teacher. Among her first jobs was teaching grades 1-8 in a one room schoolhouse where she was also in charge of maintaining the coal furnace for heating. She retired from Garfield Elementary in Boise at the age of 65. However, she did return at age 96 for a special visit. Her choice of career could not have been better, as testified by the love shared by students, family, and very dear neighbors. She was a member of several organizations including Pi Beta Kappa and the United Methodist Church. Audrey had talents in music and loved to work in her flower garden. Audrey married Keith A. Harvey, son of Earle A. and Jennie (Frank) Harvey on September 3, 1937 in Lexington, Nebraska. Mrs. Harvey, along with husband and son, moved to Idaho in 1947 where she lived ever since. She was preceded in death by her only child, a son, Larry K. Harvey; husband, Keith A. Harvey; and brother, Albert "Leo" Westcott. Survivors include her sister, Selona Lotspeich of Lynchberg, VA; sister-in-law, Lois A. (Jacobs) Westcott; niece, Merri Westcott of Boise; granddaughter and husband, Lorrie J. (Harvey) and Charles Hart; and two great grandchildren, William and Owen Hart of Haddonfield, NJ; grandson and wife, Lance K. and Margaret Harvey of Federal Way, WA; nephews; cousins; and loving friends and neighbors. A memorial gathering is planned for Saturday, April 30, from 1-3 p.m., at Willow Park Retirement Home in Boise. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donating to a breast cancer prevention agency or the Cathedral of the Rockies Methodist Church. Arrangements are under the direction of Relyea Funeral Chapel.
