Alice Boyle Obituary

Alice Anne Boyle
1938 ~ 2013
Alice Boyle, 75, of Boise, passed away comfortably at home on December 8, 2013, following a year-long battle with cancer.
Alice was born in Boise on March 9, 1938, the eldest daughter of William G. and Frances Smith Holzinger. She graduated from Boise High School, and attended Boise Junior College (now BSU).
Alice was primarily a homemaker, other than the couple of years when she was a secretary at the Boise Elks Lodge. It was during this job in which Alice met Timothy J. Boyle. This story had the makings of a TV show—divorced woman with three kids and a dog meets divorced man with four kids! Alice and Tim were married in 1974. To this union, his four children and her three became one big blended family. They later adopted two more children.
Alice and Tim made many great friends through their association with the Elks Lodge and the weekends they spent on the golf course at Terrace Lakes Resort. She was a member of two bridge clubs that played every other week. One membership began in 1969 when Alice joined the group that her mother had started years earlier. Alice also bowled for many years on Friday mornings in a ladies bowling league at Westy's.
Alice had many activities that she enjoyed, but most of them were the result of her attendance at the activities of her children and grandchildren. She was active with Job's Daughters, followed College of Idaho softball, and attended many dog shows with her sister. One of her biggest passions was watching football. Alice was a great fan of Boise State and always made sure that she was wearing her appropriate game day shirt even if she was not actually in the stadium.
Alice is survived by her children Sue (Steve) Stover, Cheryl Barton, Brent (Ruth) Ragsdale, Brandi (DJ) Jennings, and Jennifer vanBreda; her stepchildren, Dan, Cindy, Tim (Paulette), and Patty, as well as numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sisters Carol (Ray) Holaday and Donna Long.
The family would like to especially thank Rachel, Sara, and the rest of the staff at Hearts for Hospice for all of the love and care they gave Alice during this last difficult year.
A celebration of Alice's life will take place on Friday, December 13, 2013, at 1:00 p.m. in the Fellowship Hall of Meridian Friends Church, 1021 West Pine Street, Meridian. Lunch will be served.

To all the family - sorry for your loss. Alice and Tim were our neighbors at Terrace Lakes so many years ago. Tim, Tim Jr. and my late husband Ron used to go hunting. I remember Alice as really enjoying her card games! Shirley Smith
