Ava Jeanne-Marie De Angelis 1975 ~ 2012 Ava Jeanne-Marie De Angelis, 36, the beloved daughter of Joseph and Annette De Angelis and sister to Mike and Chris Axley (Sandy), Marie Rockrohr (Dick), Amy Alderman (Steve), Joseph De Angelis (Melissa), Aaron De Angelis (Marie), Tom De Angelis (Karin), Ellen Crans (Wayne), Chantiel Tenison, and Khahn Nguyen, passed away unexpectedly, but peacefully, in her sleep on January 18, 2012. She was the favorite aunt to her many nieces and nephews, including Jake, Allie, and Mary Jacobs; Emily, Allyssa, and Erica De Angelis; Willow Hill; Bennett Alderman; and Luca De Angelis. Ava also had many wonderful friends, including Sandy Scholten, John Barringer, and the Aldridge and Wells families. Ava was born on 12 December 1975 in Orlando, Florida, and became the light of our family when she joined us in Meridian, Idaho, in 1980. Although faced with many physical and mental obstacles most experts thought impossible to overcome, Ava not only defied the odds but thrived as she conquered each challenge to live a joyous and full life. While small in stature, her heart and ever present smile made her seem as though she were a giant in any room. Ava has left an indelible mark on everyone she met through her quick ability to laugh, complete willingness to always give to others, and the ability to see the good in everyone and every situation. With her bountiful spirit, Ava was a vibrant and joyful participant in several communities of faith, in particular the Risen Christ Catholic Church and the Treasure Valley Baptist Church. Ava attended several elementary schools in the area, Lake Hazel Middle School, and graduated from Meridian High School in 1996. During this journey, she made many lifelong friends and even earned a standing ovation from her classmates as she walked across the stage to receive her long-awaited diploma. Ava was an avid fan of all sports. In January 2002, Ava was honored to be a Winter Olympic Torch Bearer on its way to Salt Lake City. She played baseball every summer in the Challenger League and her games were the highlight of every Saturday night. Ava was an astonishing bowler, and the strikes made with her slow rolling, twisting balls are stuff of legend to family and friends. In 2005, she even won a local bowling tournament that allowed her to compete for the junior state championship in Idaho. Ava was also a passionate fan of Boise State football, and watched every game possible, both on television and all over the country as a traveling fan. She was always one of the best dressed fans with her myriad of blue and orange bling. Ava was a lover of all music, and there was never was a song on the radio to which she did not know the words or fail to sing softly from the backseat. During her time with us, Ava showed us how it is possible to enjoy the small things in life, what it is to love everyone, and that it is possible to persevere in face of seemingly impossible odds. She will be deeply missed, but never forgotten as we carry the memory of her beautiful personality and the many moments of happiness we shared together. A vigil in Ava's memory will be held at Cloverdale Funeral Home on Tuesday, January 24, 2012 at 7:00 pm, 1200 North Cloverdale Road. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Risen Christ Catholic Church on Wednesday, January 25, 2012 at 11:00am, 11511 West Lake Hazel Road. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Ava's memory to the Challenger Little League or .
