Brennan Grange DeCoursey
With loving family surrounding her in the wee hours of Tuesday, August 5, 2014, our beloved Brennie passed peacefully from this life into the loving arms of Jesus Christ. Brennan was born February 28, 1986 to Kelly F. and Heather Hulme Grange. She is the third of seven children. She was delivered by her Grandpa, Dr. Harold B. Hulme and was immediately surrounded by a large and loving extended family. Her greatest pleasure came from spending time with her family. Brennan had spunk, grit, determination, faith and joy that made her a delight to all who knew her. She spent her very early years in Mesa, Arizona, where she developed a love for swimming that lasted throughout her life. When Brennan was 8 years old, the family moved to Boise, Idaho, where she attended Valley View Elementary School, Fairmont Junior High School, and Capital High School. She met many wonderful, lifelong friends through her associations in those schools. Brennan loved singing in the choir and swimming on the swim team. She and her siblings had a lawn mowing business, and Brennan mowed many, many lawns through her high school years.
Upon graduation, Brennan attended Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah. Brennan was a dedicated student and graduated cum laude with a degree in Elementary Education. During her years at BYU, Brennan met the love of her life, Chad David DeCoursey. They were married in the Salt Lake Temple on August 10th, 2007. This Sunday will mark their 7th anniversary. Brennan taught third grade at Lindon Elementary School in Lindon, Utah, while Chad worked on his education, ultimately receiving his Masters of Accountancy and Juris Doctorate from BYU. When their first baby, Benton Chad DeCoursey was born December 1, 2009 Brennan "retired" from the teaching job she loved and began the job she adored … being a mother and homemaker. She excelled at both. Her home was a delight! She spent many, many hours sitting on the floor, reading with, singing to, playing with, loving and teaching Benton. She also loved to cook and always had a wonderful dinner prepared when Chad got home from a long day at school.
Brennan was always an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and during these school years, she served as the Relief Society President in her ward. On September 23, 2011, Grayson Grange DeCoursey joined the family and added so much to Brennan's joy. She adored her boys and Chad. In April 2012 Chad graduated! Over the next few months, Chad passed the CPA exam and the Idaho State Bar Exam. To the delight of the Grange family, Brennan and Chad spent these few months in Boise and we LOVED spending time with them! In October 2012, the DeCourseys set out on a grand adventure in Tyson's Corner, Virginia, where Chad started a job in international tax with Deloitte. They were loving life!
Just 5 months later in February 2013, just before Brennan's 27th birthday, she was diagnosed with pleomorphic rhabdomyosarcoma. Chad willingly relocated to Boise so Brennan could be close to home and family while receiving treatment from the wonderful, angelic people at MSTI, 4th South Outpatient and 4th South at St. Lukes Hospital. Chad and Brennan showed great faith, character and courage as they waged this war, but ultimately God took Brennie home.
She is survived by her loving husband, Chad, and their two adorable boys, Benton, 4, and Grayson, 2. She is also survived by her parents, Kelly and Heather Grange; her siblings, Shannon and Dave Nicholas, and their sons, Gabe and Joel, Landon and Clarissa Grange, Bronson Grange, Colton Grange, Bowen Grange, and Brooklyn Grange. She is also loved by all of Chad's wonderful, supportive family, her grandma Gloria Hulme, and many aunts, uncles and cousins that have shown devoted love and support.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 9, 2014 at the 8620 Goddard Road LDS Chapel, Boise. Family will greet friends at a viewing from 10:00-10:45 a.m. prior to the service at the church. Interment will follow at Dry Creek Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Relyea Funeral Chapel.
