David Allred Obituary

David Ross Allred 1957-2012 David Ross Allred, 54, passed away January 5th, 2012 at his home in Boise. Dave was born in, Manhattan, Kans., in 1957. He was raised in Twin Falls, Idaho in the river outfitting business owned by his family, Nicholson and Sons. He spent several years outfitting, fishing and adventuring with his dad Nick in Idaho on the Middle-Fork of the Salmon and later with his brother Paul in Alaska. Dave mastered the art of finish carpentry and owned and operated his own company, AC Carpentry, for 20 years. He helped many people complete their dream homes and home improvements including everyone in our family. From his early childhood, Dave persevered through a number of potentially debilitating physical ailments. He never complained or allowed these ailments to limit or define his being nor the way in which he lived. He was an amazingly strong man, both physically and intellectually, possessing the emotional intelligence of a philosopher. Those who knew Dave learned he moved full speed ahead, like a bullet. He deeply loved his family, his work and anything outdoors. Nature, friendship and humor were his spirituality and happiness. Dave excelled at camping, hunting, skiing, fishing and humor that he shared with his family and anyone near him. David's sense of humor was legendary. He was a hoot, he had a power smile you could see a mile away! He adored his grandchildren, his family, everyone, they were always in his heart. Dave married the love of his life, his adored Lisa, August 13, 2011 in Boise, joined by their amazing families and friends. That was a beautiful partnership and a gorgeous day. Every day, Dave told Lisa she was beautiful and made her laugh; he always let her know how much he loved and appreciated her. That is how Dave was; he told his family and friends how much he thought of them without hesitation. He was so loved by everyone for his considerate, unpretentious, loving kindness and positive attitude. Dave searched for and found the biggest waves and the fastest slopes. He could turn the average into the unique exemplified by often kayaking with his dog on his spray skirt. Dave was an avid fisherman, expert skier, skilled raft guide, meticulous finish carpenter and a man who never met a stranger. He was the most wonderful husband, father, brother, son, and friend to us all. Dave will be deeply missed. Like a bullet he is gone. If we could ask Dave his advice about how to cope with his passing, he would simply say, "I love you man!" with all his heart. He would give you the shirt off his back and the shoes off his feet and every dime in his pocket. One of Dave's philosophies can be found in the abyssal statement: "Hard saying not knowing." He will leave a hole in many hearts, most of all in his true love Lisa's and of course, the rest of his family and friends. Thank you Dave for just being yourself. Dave is survived by his loving wife Lisa Wirtanen Allred, his daughter Elizabeth Allred and grandchildren, Kiya (10) and Layce (5); Lisa's daughter Audre (17) and son Clay (10); his parents Nick and Esther Nicholson of Boise, brother Paul Allred and wife Sharon and their son Ely Allred; sister Jamie Olavarria, her husband Andy and their children Alec and Claire; brother Jeff Allred, wife Cindy and their children Dylan and Arlee; sister Jole Allred Voulelis, husband Jim and their boys Nick and Max; Lisa's mother, Ginny Wirtanen, her brother TomWirtanen, wife Anne and their children Hannah(15) and Rachel (12); sister-in-law Kellie Wirtanen and brother-in-law George Wirtanen. Dave was preceded in death by his father, Major James H. Allred a decorated Vietnam Veteran, and his granddaughter Shiane Rain. A Celebration of David's Life will be held at 3 p.m. Wednesday, January 11 at Municipal Park in Boise, by the river. A family and friends gathering will be held at the Jim and Jole Voulelis' residence 215 Bene Posto Place, Boise, immediately following the service. Not sure what to say?

Davey,
You showed me how to be, gave me the courage to fly and to be free. It was too short a stay on this powerful earth. Your spirit still soars over the Owyhees and over me. I love you man. Kel

My condolences to the entire Allred family. During David's teen years growing up he would tag along with Jeff and his best friend me, chris smith on numerous adventures in twin falls, redfish lake, middlefork of the salmon etc. i loved David very much and was an intimate part of this whole family at one time. i deeply regret your loss and mine, and especially the loss of the obvious happiness in love he inevitably had the joy of finding with Lisa. To all the Allred Family,
Mart and I are so sorry to hear about Dave. We had a lot of good times with him in our younger years and we will always remember his humor and never ending smile. I still laugh when I think of him and some of the crazy things he did. The Middle Fork and Hell's Canyon trips were a hoot because of him. Mart says he could go on for hours about the things he and Dave did, cutting class, hunting, fishing, going to the cabin at Fisher Creek, lots of fond memories. And there are all those words the two of them made up, wasneaky, invented during one of their many duck hunting trips, which came to mean “here come the ducks”. As well there is the now world famous phase “not” that Dave and Mart attached to the end of many phases, long before it became hip. Yes, we will miss him.
We are sorry we were unable to come to celebrate his life. It would have been nice to meet you Lisa and to see all the Allred Family.
You are in our thoughts and prayers.

To David's family and his many friends:
David will be missed. I do not believe I ever saw him without a smile. We did not see each other as much these last years but he never left my heart. No matter where we ran into each other there was always laughter and more laughter. Hugs and stories. Remembering the stupid things we did together and the adventures we didn't get to do. Always he shared his love with every one he met.

Dave was the closest FRIEND I have ever had. I will miss him enormously.

Dave's love for his family was awesome and I will miss the way he would dote over His Mom, Lib, his grand babies and especially with his love for Lisa.

Dave's famous "Cast and Blast" always made hunting & fishing a lifetime experience.

I will miss watching Dave do his “jiggy dance” around a blazing campfire dancing in the rain, all the crazy road trips we shared and floating the Boise into the sunset!

Rest In Peace, My FRIEND.
