H. Brasch Obituary

H. Kenneth "Ken" Brasch 1927 - 2011 Ken Brasch, Boise, passed away Tuesday, Aug. 30, 2011 after a long illness. He was surrounded by his family. Ken was born in Seattle, WA on Mar. 28, 1927 to Harry and Adeline Kohlberg Brasch. The family moved to Boise when Ken was 8 where he attended school, graduated from Boise High School and immediately joined the U.S. Navy. He served in the U.S. Navy for 16 months, until WWII ended. Ken and Barbara Lewis married on November 25, 1948. Their families had known each other for years and both graduated from Boise High, class of '45. They spent many years helping organize reunions for their class and loved seeing all their long-time friends reunite while dancing to the music of the 40's. Ken worked as a sales representative for the American Chicle Company until he became a partner in the Ralph Davey Brokerage business in 1968. Upon retirement from the candy brokerage business in 1985 Ken spent some of his time volunteering for St. Alphonsus' Hospital and many years helping in the pharmacy at the Boise Veteran's Hospital. Ken loved to tell jokes, entertain and make people laugh. He loved cars, water and snow skiing, driving, golf, cars and driving, cribbage, cars, cross word puzzles and his family! He was a dedicated member of Idaho Lodge #1 AF&AM, Past Master; a 33rd Degree Mason of the Scottish Rite and a past member of the El Korah Shrine, Players Unit. Ken is survived by his wife, Barbara; son Bob Brasch of Boise, daughter Kerin and son-in-law, Bruce Hedrick of Seattle and grandchildren Haley and Elliot Brasch. The family is so thankful for the caring and professional staff in Kingswood at Willow Park and the kindness and care we all received from Hearts for Hospice. An Open House to welcome friends, neighbors and family will be held Monday, Sept. 5, from 3:00-6:00pm at the family's home. Chocolate milk will be served. For more information: [email protected] Donations can be made to St. Alphonsus Foundation or Memorial Research Fund for Macular Degeneration (PO Box 531313, Henderson NV 89053 www.eyesight.org) or the charity of your choice. Rest in peace, Dad.
