Helen Marie Hill

Helen Marie Hill March 30, 1917 - April 23, 2011 Helen Marie Hill, 94, of Caldwell, went to be with Jesus on April 23, 2011. She was born Helen M. Godfrey on March 30, 1917 to Harold C. and Matilda (Quittam) Godfrey in Eureka, Montana. She led a life of travel and adventures. She has lived all over the USA including Alaska. In her travels, she met and married Benjamin Lewis. From this marriage, a daughter, Alice was born. They later divorced. Later Helen met and married Carl R. Ek and they had a daughter, Carlee R. Ek. They later divorced. Helen later moved to Middleton, Idaho and lived there until her children graduated from school there. Helen was a caregiver and worked in that capacity most of her working life. She moved to Bend, Oregon in the 60's and lived and worked there for about seven years. She moved back to Idaho and got a job working for Bert Hill. They fell in love and got married in June of 1971. Bert and Helen would take road trips and enjoyed the grandchildren. They were active in the DAV& Auxiliary. They were active in their church. When Bert died, Helen continued to be active in the DAV, Auxiliary and the Caldwell Christian Church. She taught Sunday school and would send cards to those in her church who had birthdays, deaths or illnesses. She was the "card lady". She is preceded in death by her husband Bert, her brothers and their wives, Orlando (Sechrest) Godfrey, Horace (Alice) Godfrey, her parents, and her step mother, Pearl Godfrey. She is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Alice (Earl) Edmiston and Carlee R Ek of Nampa, her grandchildren and great grandchildren, Adam Edmiston of Caldwell, Roger (Laura & son Noah) Edmiston of Bethesda, MD, Jeff (April & children Jeremiah, Chloe, Josiah & Jordan) Edmiston of Albany, OR, MaryLou Edmiston and her daughter Victoria Raulerson of Nampa, as well as many other friends and family who loved her. The family wishes to thank the people who made Helen's last few months comfortable and great, the wonderful staff and residents of Aging Gracefully Home Care of Nampa, and Heart 'N' Home Hospice of Caldwell. A viewing will be held from 4 PM to 7 PM at Flahiff Funeral Chapel in Caldwell on Wednesday, April 27th.
