With the blink of a light, Herbert Allen Risner, 82 of Nampa, passed away at his home on October 25, 2013 after a valiant, year-long battle with cancer, surrounded by family and loved ones. Memorial services will be held at 12 pm on Saturday, November 2, 2013 at Southside Blvd Methodist Church, 5420 Southside Blvd, Nampa. Per his wishes, Herb was cremated and his ashes will be scattered at a later date. Arrangements are being provided by Zeyer Funeral Chapel, Nampa. 467-7300
Herb was born on September 21, 1931 in Jeffersonville, Arkansas, the only child of Lorenzo Garland and Lilly Ada Bills Risner. He grew up in and around Marianna, AR, in the Lee County area. He started his adult career as a Mechanic in Chicago and then moved on to California before finally settling in Idaho in the mid 1960's. Herb loved working with his hands, and worked as a mechanic at ISSH for 13 years. He and his son Garland founded Powertune in 1988, an auto repair shop in Nampa. He was renowned for his ability to repair automobiles and trucks with particular expertise in rebuilding carburetors.
On May 22, 1987, in Nampa he married Sandi Corsi. Herb was an avid short wave radio operator and was certified to test for licensing. He also loved to go fishing, camping and boating and was a member of the Coast Guard Auxiliary. Herb was also actively involved in the Nampa Citizens Patrol.
Preceding him in death were his parents; brothers: Floyd Henry, Jody Henry, John David "Theron" Calvert, and Barner Risner; sisters Agnes Henry and Girlie Mitchell. He is survived by his loving wife of 26 years, Sandi Risner of Nampa; son Garland Risner (Sue) of Nampa; daughter Stacy Corsi of Nampa; sons William Corsi of Kennewick, WA and Levi Corsi (Micaela) of Caldwell; four grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews and cousins and his four-legged companions, Buddy and Bandit. We will all miss his sense of humor, sparkling blue eyes, the love he had for his family and his zest for life.
