James Cornwell Obituary

James R. Cornwell 1933 - 2011 James R. Cornwell, 77, of Garden City, died Thursday April 14, 20ll at a Nampa hospital of natural causes. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, April 22, 2011 at Dakan Funeral Chapel, Caldwell, with Rev. Aaron Beaty of Boone Memorial Presbyterian Church officiating. Condolences may be shared with the family using their online guestbook at www.dakanfuneralchapel.com Jim was born July 19, 1933 in Staples, Minnesota, the oldest son of Bryan F. and Violet L. Cornwell. He married Marjorie Bonner and 3 children were born to this union. Jim worked many years for MacGregor Triangle in Boise and later for Ada county in the highway department. He married Calla Darling on June 28, 1974. It was Jim and Calla's desire to live in the mountains. Together they moved to Garden Valley and loved living there. They later moved to Caldwell. Jim enjoyed golf and played until his health made it impossible. Jim loved a good joke, loved to laugh, and appreciated the fine art of writing limericks. Jim is survived by 3 children; Rhonda (Rick) Freeman of Hartsville, SC, James B. Cornwell of Boise, ID, and Jennifer (David) Bogut of Moscow, ID; Calla's four children; Kathy (James) Crawford of San Luis Obispo, CA, Cyndi (Clint) Watson of Idaho City, ID, Debbie Darling of Boise, ID, and Scott (Tammy) Darling of Boise, ID; 11 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren, Seven siblings, Jerry(Ann) Cornwell of Palm Desert, CA, Dick (Geri) Cornwell of Kennewick WA, Russ (Denise) Cornwell of Tacoma WA, Judy Lowe of Caldwell, ID, Cheryl (Dale) Brixey of Parma ID, Kathy Nelson of Boise, ID, and Deb (Tim) Downing of Homedale ID; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends. Jim's hearing loss created a world-wide circle of e-mail friends. Jim was preceded in death by his parents and his beloved Calla. Jim was a very generous soul supporting a multitude of charities. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to your favorite charity.

Dad, I will miss you very much. I know your with Momma now and that makes me happy. I know how much you missed her. Now I won't have anyone to bicker with. :) You were the only father I really ever had. To your siblings, children and their families I'm sorry for your loss.
