June W. Christensen 1918 - 2011 June W (Storey) Brown Christensen of Emmett went home to be with the Lord on April 13, 2011 at a local Care Center where she received excellent care since late Jan 2011. June was the 2 of 10 children born on June 10, 1918 in Canyon County to John Elmer 'Dick' and Ada May (Ryals) Storey of Middleton, Id. June learned to care for children and to cook as 8 siblings came along. June married Clarence Edward Brown in Boise in a double ceremony with her brother Bill and Clarence's sister Della just before midnight on Dec 31, 1936. They lived in Boise until after all 4 children were born then moved to Lewiston and later to LaGrande, Oregon. June and Clarence divorced in 1970. June worked primarily as a cook in cafes although she did work in the local packing sheds for a while after moving to the Emmett area close to 30 years ago. She spent the last 40 years with Casper 'Capp' Christensen. She is survived by 3 of their 4 children Joyce (Brown) Bedard of Emmett, Fred & Sara Brown of Wellton, Az, and Bob & Edith Brown of Emmett, 12 grandchildren, 34 great-grandchildren and 17 great-great grandchildren and 3 siblings Carol & Warren Howery of Colorado, Goldene & James Durrington of California and John & Arlene Storey of Washington. June was preceded in death by one son Jerry Leroy Brown, 6 siblings William, Alfred, Edwin, Eldon, Gerald Storey and Zella Murphy Mom loved to cook and bake but her love was family. She loved her children and her siblings. There are many memories of camping, fishing, boating and family outings and reunions. Reunions always included a rousing game of horseshoes and in younger days baseball. Her children and siblings remember special times spent at her folks cabin on Clear Creek near Cascade, Id. June's motto according to her children was to 'SPEAK YOUR MIND'. Funeral will be held at Potters Funeral Chapel 228 E Main Emmett at 2:00 PM on Tuesday Apr 19, and the burial to follow at Emmett Cemetery. The viewing will be Monday from 3 until 8:00PM.
