Ronald Furno Obituary

Ronald M. Furno 1925 ~ 2010 Ronald M. Furno, 85, of Meridian, passed away December 29, 2010 at St. Luke's Hospital, Meridian. He was born October 23, 1925 in Chicago, IL, second son of Dr. and Mrs. (Victoria) Peter H. Furno. A military career was foremost in his lifetime, serving in World War II, Europe with the 99th Infantry Division. He was awarded the Bronze Star medal for heroism during the Battle of the Bulge. He later served with the 40th Infantry Division in the Korean War where he was promoted to 1st. Lieutenant. In addition to varied occupations in civilian life, he served 10 years with the L.A. Police Dept., CA. He later retired in Idaho, where he met and married Gloria H. Lindemann in 1990, making their home in Meridian. Ron leaves behind his beloved wife, Gloria, who faithfully nursed him over his long ailment; brother Peter and his family; son Steven (wife Peggy), grandson Adam, grandson Daniel with great granddaughter Kailey; Steven and Kenneth's mother Ruth; daughter-in-law Vicki Furno, grandson Ryan Furno and granddaughter Lisa Payne mother of great grandchildren Logan and Braydon. Ron was preceded in death by his son Kenneth in 2008. Memorial service and Inurnment will be 1:00 P.M., Friday, April 29, 2011 at the Idaho State Veterans Cemetery.
