Scott Jones Obituary

Scott Allen Jones
1956 - 2015
Scott Allen Jones went to be with the Lord on December 22nd, 2015 at the age of 59, after a valiant fight against cancer.
Scott was born June 3rd, 1956 in Covina, California. Growing up he had a talent for business and passion for independence. These two traits were driving forces in Scott's decision to leave his California roots and move to Boise in 1985. He opened DK's Donuts that same year. He later opened another location at 13th and State Street. Scott grew up in the donut business working with his family for many years before he struck out on his own. Scott's other passion was his love of Jesus. It was this move to Boise that God used to bring Scott's best friend, life partner and wife into his life. He married Vickie Sue Russell on July 4th, 1987.
Scott loved spending time at their cabin in Garden Valley, family vacation home in Parker, Arizona, or traveling in the motorhome with Vickie. Hiking, waterskiing, riding his various types of ATV's, and puttering in his "man cave" were just a few of his many hobbies. However, all of these hobbies paled in comparison to the joy Scott felt when spending time with his children from the moment they were born. His son James and daughter Julie were always the light of his life. Scott was incredibly proud of James and Julie. He was a family man who truly loved spending time with his family above all else. Becoming a grandpa in 2014 was another highlight of Scott's life. His grandson Parker gave Scott tremendous joy and inspiration this past year.
Scott's faith in Jesus Christ as his Savior gave him hope and allowed him to die peacefully knowing that he would spend eternity with our Lord.
Scott was preceded in death by his parents, David Keith Jones and Helen Louise Jones (Turnbull). He is survived by his wife Vickie; his children James (Rachael) Jones and Julie (Jacob) Culotta; his grandson Parker Lee Scott Jones; his brother Steve and sister Sue; and many beloved nieces and nephews.
Memorial services will be held Monday, January 4th at 11:30 at Cole Community Church in Boise under the direction of Alden-Waggoner Funeral Chapel.
Our family would like to thank all of those who have walked this long journey with us in prayer and support. A special thank you to Angeles Clinic of Los Angeles and MSTI of Meridian for their loving care and encouragement! Anyone wanting to donate in lieu of flowers, please make donation in honor of Scott to Cole Valley Christian Schools.

To Vickie and the Jones family. I knew Scott since high school at Estancia, and although we lost touch with each other since the mid 90s I never forgot Scott and all the great times we had together. Yes some times were immature and others a time of growing up and finding ourselves, and unfortunately Scott and I took different paths in life. I see that even though he had a life cut short it was full with a loving wife and children and grandchildren. Nothing can match that love in our lives. How Lucky for Scott. How unfortunate a loss for everyone. But for some reason I thought about him tonight and decided to look him up and came across his obituary. I was shocked and saddened by his passing of course, and I always thought maybe one day we could meet again and reminisce about the many good times we had. I know God led me to see this here and now. Why I don't know. This teaches me a lesson about keeping friends no matter how old in better contact.. I would assume. I need to ask God for strength to move on with my own challenges. Rest in Peace Dear Scott, until we see each other in a Greater Light!
