 Thomas V. Munson 1952 ~ 2012 Thomas Veness Munson, loving husband and father, died Thursday afternoon, June 28, 2012 from cancer, at the age of 60. He was at home with his wife by his side. Tom was born June 16, 1952 in Ithaca, New York to his parents, Theodore E. Munson and Bonalyn Alethe Veness Munson. He was one of five children. During his childhood the family lived in Syracuse, NY; Juneau, Alaska; Cleveland, Ohio; Fullerton, CA; and finally Boise, ID. Tom graduated from Boise High School in 1970. He attended College of Idaho and then Boise State University. He graduated from BSU in 1978. Tom then attended the College of Law at the University of Idaho and graduated in 1981. While at the University of Idaho he met his future wife, Susan Butz. Tom and Susan were married on August 17, 1981. They had almost 34 years together. Tom's passions in life were his family, his many, many friends, his beautiful guitars, voraciously reading non-fiction, watching The History Channel, and Bronco Football. Tom and Susan had their son, Paul, in January of 1989 and Tom instantly threw himself into the role of fatherhood 100%. Tom loved being a dad and the family had many special times together. Tom had many friends all over the country and had a knack for keeping friends for a lifetime. Tom was a true BSU Bronco fan! He loved the tailgate parties, OBNUG, and of course -watching BSU football. As his brother-in-law, Lon, stated recently, "I'll miss his wit, his kindness, his unrelenting quest for a good strong argument, his vast knowledge of all things Broncos but most of all I'll miss his friendship." ... we all will. Tom leaves behind his wife, Susan; son, Paul; mother, Bon Munson; siblings: Gayle Munson, Jan (Lon) Madarieta and Rick Munson, all of Boise; brother-in-law, Steve (Terri) Butz of Boise; nieces and nephews: Jenifer (Regan) Johnson of Seattle; Sarah Madarieta of Moscow; Chris Yanke of Los Angeles, CA; Candace (Damien) Smith of Boise; Thomas A. Munson of Nampa; Andrea Butz of Austin, TX; and Heidi Butz of Boise; grand nieces and nephews: Ariel, Faith, Rochelle, Keaton, and Bryson. Tom was preceded in death by his father, Ted; and sister, Lynn Webster. A Memorial Service in Tom's honor will be held at 3:00 pm, Saturday, July 14, 2012 at the Hilton Garden Inn, 7699 W Spectrum Street, Boise, Idaho.
