Lilly Ann Prestel
1945 - 2014
L. Ann Prestel, born in Boise, Idaho on September 20th, 1945, passed away February, 13th, 2014 in the loving paws of her faithful pet companions, Rugby, Dandy, and Rookie. Ann was a cherished mother, loyal wife of 46 years, sisterly friend to many, and a proud volunteer at Mountain States Tumor Institute (MSTI). She spent her life devoted to her family, pets, job, and community. She loved nature and had a special bond with animals. Ann's greatest joy was volunteering at MSTI with her inseparable best friend and pet therapy dog, Rugby. Their devotion to each other was obvious even to the end.
Ann deeply loved her children, Washington residents Eric (Ryn) and Aly. Ann's beautiful smile was the extension of her children's fulfilled hearts - full of happiness and wonderful times that her family will forever cherish.
Ann was the sunny disposition of a successful Redmond, WA based telephony company, MicroPeripheral/Digital Systems International/Mosaix where she made a fulfilling and happy career that resulted in many loving relationships. She brought much joy to her co-workers with her presence, loyal work-ethic and exceptional customer service.
After retirement and returning to Idaho, Ann's favorite Saturday night activity was joining her husband at El Gallo Giro in Kuna, and ending the night with an ice cream cone for Rugby. Simple things were wonderful things.
Ann's last years were difficult, but she never complained, and always remained a joy to be around. She was the best patient, determined and proud. Cancer could never minimize her beauty or her sense of humor. She at no time wanted to be a worry or a burden - a true adoration towards her extended family and friends.
Ann leaves behind her devout husband Gerald, and their children Ryn and Aly. Ann's sister M. Jane Fossatti resides in Roslyn, WA. They shared a special sisterly-bond. Ann's nieces and nephews, Scott and Lori Prestel (Schram), David and Danny Fossatti all hold a special and unique place in her heart.
The family would like to extend their forever gratitude to Dr. Norman Zuckerman and all the angelic nurses at MSTI Meridian for sharing a true compassion for Ann. You made hope a priority, and you knew Ann was a mother and wife first, and cancer patient second. Ryn and Aly would like to also thank their father, Gerald, for his undying love, devotion and care for their mother. You were a pillar of strength as you took care of mom.
We love you so much mom! You are our hero, our matriarch, and now you are our North Star.
In lieu of flowers, Ann wishes to have you take a moment and hold your family and pets close. Love life to the fullest and be a valued community member. Give back, enjoy nature, and have a margarita.
Private graveside services were held at Cloverdale on Tuesday, February 18th, 2018.
