Paul Leonard Cooper
Paul Leonard Cooper, 90, of Boise, died Thursday, April 10, 2014, in a Boise hospital.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Friday, April 18, 2014 at the Alden-Waggoner Funeral Chapel. Burial will follow at Morris Hill Cemetery. Friends may call at the Alden-Waggoner Funeral Chapel on Thursday, April 17, 2014 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.
Paul was born on May 4, 1923 in Boise, Idaho to Ada Wilton Cooper and Harry Cooper. He grew up in Boise and was a lifelong resident of Old South Boise, attending Garfield Elementary , North Junior High and graduating from Boise High School.
Paul joined the military and served with the 96th Repair Depot of the 9th Air Force, maintaining p-47 Thunderbolt fighters and B-26 Marauder Bombers supporting missions flown over Germany and France. He was stationed at Stansted Airfield north of London, and later at the airfield near Reims, France.
On August 18, 1946, Paul married Viola Brown in Boise. They were married for nearly 60 years before her death in 2006. Paul spent his career working with Bunting Tractor and Western States Equipment for over 35 years. His retirement was spent traveling the western states and spending many winters in Arizona with Vi and friends.
The joys of his life were his family, his faith, and golf. He spent many years as an elder with the Boise Bible Students.
Survivors include his children, Ron (Valerie) Cooper, Meridian, David (Sue) Cooper, Boise, and Janet (Russ) Metzger, Boise; sisters, Esther Hanley, Boise, Eunice Beeman, Portland, OR, Joy Campbell, Boise and Lois Cilley, Garden Grove, CA; brother, Joe Cooper, Boise; grandchildren, Jennifer Parks, Pamela Gray, Dustin Metzger, Kristina Metzger, Matt Cooper, and Alyssa Cooper; and great grandchildren, Kaitlyn Parks, Michael Gray, Cassandra Gray, Graem Metzger and Carson Metzger. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Viola, and brothers, David Cooper and James Cooper.
The family would like to thank the doctors and nurses at St. Luke's ICU for their wonderful care.
