Billy E. Stout
1922 - 2014
Billy E. Stout, 91, passed away on Wednesday, April 16, 2014 at the Veterans' Home in Boise, with his daughter by his side, where he had been a resident for the past three years.
Bill was born on September 28, 1922 in Lamar, Missouri, to Pearl M. Hall and Willie A. Stout. As the family grew to include 8 siblings they would leave Missouri and travel west settling in Filer, Idaho.
In 1942 Bill enlisted in the United States Navy, this was also the year that he married Irene Rutherford, and to this union two children were born, William Michael and Carolyn Marie. Bill and Irene divorced and Bill married his teen age love, Winona Bell Millard and became the step-father to Sandy, Steve, Stan, Scott and Sue, who he always loved and treated as his own children.
After Bill retired from General Motors' Frigidaire division, he and Winona moved to Terrace Lakes, in Garden Valley, which was their "Casa Del Sol". When the winters got to be too long and cold Bill and Winona would head south to Borrego Springs, California, where they loved giving tours and talks about the desert. They later made Yuma, Arizona their winter home.
Bill loved the game of golf, and on his 72nd birthday he decided to play 72 holes! He was great with jig-saw puzzles and mastered the art of oil painting. He loved to have company stop by for a visit to sit down and share stories and a good laugh.
Bill and Winona sold their home at Terrace Lakes and moved to Willowbrook Estates in Boise where they made new friends and enjoyed being close to family.
Bill is survived by his wife, Winona; sisters, Peggy Kessler of Jerome, and Sarah Martin of Nampa; children, William M. (Bertha) Stout of Boise, Carolyn M. Austin of Boise, Sandy (Warner) York of Jerome, Steve (Peggy) Millard of Eagle, Stan (Trish) Millard of Glendale, Arizona, and Scott Millard of Boise; numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank the staff in the Special Cares Unit of the Idaho State Veterans' Home who provided wonderful loving care to Billy and his family.
Graveside Services will be held on Monday, April 21, 2014, at Dry Creek Cemetery at 3:00 pm.
