1932 ~ 2014
Ruth Nettleton passed away on Easter morning, April 20th, 2014 after a long battle with Alzheimer's and cancer.
Ruth was born in South Dakota on December 3rd, 1932 to Ruby and Richard Ellingson, who she joins in heaven, along with Robert and Earnest Ellingson and Joshua Scott. Ruth leaves behind a large family, including her siblings Esther Hanson, Marie Chalifoux, Gary and Barbara Elingson, and Charloette Barton. Ruth also leaves two daughters Chris VanZant and Sandy Scott, four grandchildren, Arielle VanZant, Dan VanZant, Aisha VanZant, and Andrea Scott a pair of great-grand children, and a beagle named Bailey.
Ruth loved animals, and it was a safe bet if the television was on, something furry was featured. Her lifetime love of children blossomed into a daycare arrangement with her Eagle Road neighbors, where her grace and compassion touched so many lives. Ruth was also an avid doll collector, and accumulated an impressive display, welcoming visitors into her warm home. She always had a penchant for the outdoors, and her green thumb was evident from the gardens she carefully tended.
Ruth was a loving, honest, hardworking woman, and while her family is relieved her difficult passing is over, the world is just a little less green without her in it.
Ruth's life will be celebrated at Valley Shepherd Church of the Nazarene in Meridian on Monday, April 28th at eleven in the morning. Graveside services at Joplin Cemetery will follow. Services are under the direction and care of Alsip and Persons Funeral Chapel, Nampa 466-3545.
