Richard 'Dick' Dennis Pergande Sr.
1937-2013
Richard 'Dick' Dennis Pergande Sr. 76, of Nampa died Dec. 4, 2013.
He was born to the late Delmar and Frances Pergande March 27, 1937 in Tumwater Washington. Richard graduated from Boise High School in 1955 and joined the United States Army where he served in the 101st Airborne Division. He married the late Doris Phelps in 1955, and they lived together in Bowling Green, Kentucky before relocating to Idaho in 1957. They had four children together. He married Gail Ellis Best and together they raised her three children in Nampa, Idaho.
Richard worked as truck driver and a car salesman. He was employed by Norm Bishop Volkswagen and Treasure Valley Volkswagen. Before his retirement he drove truck for Doug Andrus of Idaho Falls.
Richard and Gail had a passion for raising thoroughbred horses. They worked side-by-side caring for their horses, and enjoying the horse races at Les Bois Track in Boise as well as at tracks in Nevada and California.
Richard is survived by his children: Terry Pergande of Nampa Idaho, his son, LT junior grade Brad L. O'Keefe US Navy Nurse Corpes (Shannon), Caleb, Nikki; and Sherri Pergande Roach of Bowling Green Kentucky, her daughter Jessica Keown ; Thomas (Delia) Pergande of Lexington, Kentucky, their children Julia, Quinn and Isabel; and Robert (Lori) Best of Ridgemont, California, their daughters Heather and Vanessa; and Master Sergeant Timothy(Cindy) Best of Charleroi, Pennsylvania their son Tim Jr.; and Patricia Robison (Master Sergeant Alan) of Ft Riley, Kansas, their children Katlyn, Cody, and William; sister Annette Martin of Boise, Idaho; Granddaughter Amanda Butler (Bryan) Boise Idaho, and their children Abigail, Amelia, and Nick Pergande, Florida. He also is survived by grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Gail in 1991 and his eldest son Richard Pergande Jr. in 2008, and by two brothers and two sisters.
A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, June 9 at Alsip Funeral Home, 404 10th Ave. South, Nampa. Burial will follow at Kohlerlawn Cemetery. Services are under the direction and care of Alsip and Persons Funeral Chapel, Nampa 466-3545.
