Curtis Alan Thomas
Curtis Alan Thomas, 43, of Boise, passed away on Sunday, July 6, 2014 following a three week stay at St. Alphonsus Regional Medical Center.
Curtis was born on February 11, 1971 in Walnut Creek, CA. Curtis was the third of four children born to Val and Jackie Thomas. Curtis and his family moved to Boise, ID in 1978. He graduated from Meridian High School in 1989. After graduation Curtis worked for Micron Technology before moving to San Francisco, CA in 1999 where he worked for several companies until he returned to Boise in 2002. Curtis worked for US Bank in Idaho from 2003-2006 and in California from 2006-2011. Curtis returned to Boise in November 2012 where he worked for CitiFinancial and Hewlett Packard through May 2014.
Curtis met his partner, Ryan Donahue, in San Francisco in May 2002. Curtis and Ryan visited the Treasure Valley the summer of 2002 and decided to move to Boise in November the same year. They welcomed their first golden retriever, Brady, to their home in 2002. Brady was Curtis' best buddy until 2011 when Brady died too soon. Their second golden retriever was born on June 6, 2006 so they named her after a TV witch. Piper was the light of Curtis' life until the very end. Curtis and Ryan moved around a bit, living in Sacramento, CA; Boise, ID; Cotati, CA; and West Hills, CA.
Curtis was funny, personable, inappropriate in the best way possible, and extremely talented. Curtis was a member of the San Francisco Gay Men's Chorus from 1999-2002. He traveled over the United States performing with this world renowned group. He made friends for life with these men. Curtis was also generous to a fault. Curtis provided money for a homeless man he befriended in Southern California even when he was unemployed and on disability.
Curtis is survived by his mother, Jackie Thomas of Boise, ID; sister, Sheri Toler of Ashburn, VA; brothers, Russell Thomas of Stockton, CA and Daryl Thomas of Boise, ID; and his longtime partner, Ryan Donahue of Sacramento, CA. Curtis also leaves behind three nieces, seven nephews, and too many friends to number.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 12, 2014 at the 2600 W. Hill Road LDS Chapel. A viewing will be held prior to the service from 10:00-10:50 at the church.
