Buckley B Ryals of Boise died Tuesday, July 15, 2014 at Meadowlakes Memory Care Center in Meridian of cancer complications.
Funeral Services will be held at 1 p.m., Wednesday, July 23 at Cloverdale Funeral Home with a military chaplain officiating. Family will gather after the service at 8680 Kingston Way, Middleton.
Buck, son of Chester and Iona Ryals was born on May 21, 1923 in Lockerby, Utah and moved to Barber, ID before he was a year old. They lived in Barber for eight years and then moved to Boise when his father went to work for Idaho Power.
After WWII, Dad joined the Navy Construction Battalion "Seabees" Reserve and retired after serving his country 20 years. Early in his life, Dad built homes to sell in the Boise area and worked as a carpenter. Dad retired from the Boise Veteran's Administration Hospital as a supervising carpenter.
Dad married Helen Page in 1992 and they were married until she passed away on February 7, 2013. Dad was very active through-out his whole life. He was a terrific bowler and enjoyed swimming, fishing and hunting. When he was younger, he was an amateur prize fighter and would often regale us with stories of his boxing career. Dad was an avid sports enthusiast and loved watching sports on TV or attending live sporting events, whether soccer matches, softball games, or college football games. He especially loved the BSU Broncos. He and Helen also loved to travel, and they travelled extensively. They were members of the Elks and loved to dance, frequently going to dances with their many friends.
Buck is survived by four daughters: Chris Kapicka and her husband, Roy, Nancy Allen and her husband, Don, Alda DeArmond , and her husband Brent, Julie Henderson and her husband, Isaac; two sons Dan Ryals and his wife, Kris, and David Thomasson and his wife, Brenda. Fourteen grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren also survive.
