Harlen, D. Garrison
1920 - 2012
Harlen, D. Garrison died November 16, 2012 of natural causes at the VA Hospital in Boise, Idaho.
"HD" (as he'd be known by many) was born March 1, 1920 in Golden, Missouri, to Martin Columbus Garrison and Minnie May Bryant. He married Helen Gay Howell on March 11, 1939.
He worked as a millwright at the Edward Hines Sawmill in Burns, OR; as a crane operator at the White Satin sugar beet factory in Nampa, ID; and also for J.O. Young and Co - also in Nampa. He also helped build the Anderson Ranch Dam.
Harlen served in the Europe Theater of Operations, as part of the 82nd Airborne Division - 504th Parachute Infantry Regiment in World War II.
He was a member of the LDS Church and enjoyed being a Cub Scout leader.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Helen; his parents, 2 brothers, 2 sisters, 5 grandsons and 2 great-grandsons.
He is survived by his 5 sons - Monte of La Grande, OR; Gary Wayne of Deary, ID; Bruce of Gilbert, AZ; Dennis of Caldwell, ID; Val of Gresham, OR - and his 1 daughter - Gaye Gunderson of Burns, OR. "HD" is also survived by his 30 grandchildren, 97 great-grandchildren and 12 great-great-grandchildren!
Services will be held December 1, 2012 at the Middleton LDS Church (1749 Willis Road, Middleton, ID 83644) at 11:00 AM. A viewing, from 9:30 -10:30 AM, also at the Middleton LDS Church, will precede the services.
