Leon Raymond Olson, 91 year old Veteran from World War II, of Boise, died Friday, June 14, 2013 in a St. Luke's Hospital, Meridian.
Leon was born in Jamestown, New York on April 22, 1922 to Edwin and Laura Boutin Olson. They had five children; Helen, Glenn, Leon, Emory and Wally.
Leon enlisted in the Army during World War II.
He was in radio, real estate, politics and newspaper publishing.
He reinstated his realty brokerage when he was 87 years old.
He was a very dapper man, loving to dress up. He was humorous even after he broke his shoulder, hip and pelvis. He trusted those who cared for him.
His marriage lasted 67 years from 1945 to 2012. He absolutely loved and adored his wife and jealously guarded her. Gracious, chessy cat grin, he whistled a lot early on. He took his children to church regularly, read the Bible at meals and prayed.
He was an outstanding citizen. He had compassion for needy people and ministered to them.
Leon was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Wally; sister, Helen; his daughter, Lynda Jones; and his beloved wife, Eva.
He is survived by his daughters, Shaaron Droke, Beverly Adams and Margo Stone; his son, Don Olson; neice, Christine; newphews, Gus and John; grandchildren, Tammy, David , Daniel (Lisa), (both oversaw his care the last year of his life); Aaron , Linda, Christina , Elissa , Mary-Elizabeth, Johnathan, Steven, Wendy, Andrea; Erik, Jasmynn, Julie; great grandchildren, Kyler, Ashton, Kandice, Sarah, Levi, Caleb, Nathaneal, Alecxavier, one in the Phillipines; Danika, Peri, Nicole, Natalie and Nathaniel; Michelle, Danielle, Gabrielle, Timothy, Noelle, Thomas, Janelle, Ariel , Christabelle,Victoria, Luke, Geramie; Andrew, Austin, Ariana-Rosemary; Nicholas, Jesse, Lily Ann; Matthew and Samantha; a great grandson, two great grandchildren of Julie's; Five great-great grandchildren;Air-bear, Delilah, Natalie, Connor and Keeley
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, June 20, 2013 at Hillcrest Trinity Assembly, 2201 S Orchard in Boise.
Graveside services will follow at the Idaho State Veterans Cemetery at 3:00 p.m. We encourage any Veteran or serviceman to attend this service. A viewing will be held at Summers Funeral Home, Ustick Chapel, 3629 E. Ustick Rd, Wednesday, June 19, 2013 from 4-8 pm.
