Michael D. Handley
1947 ~ 2013
Michael D. Handley passed away peacefully at home from Huntington's disease on July 18th, 2013.
He was born on May 31, 1947 in Denver, Colorado. He was the third son of Jeanne Rudolph and Robert Handley.
After graduation from Englewood High School, he joined the United States Navy serving a total of 18 years. Marriage to Sharon in 1966 produced a son, David (1968) and daughter, Kristine (1970).
A job transfer in 1976 moved the family of 4 to Boise, Idaho where he resided in the same home until his death.
Retirement in 2002 from Lucent after 32 years made way for travel in the US, Hawaii, Israel and Alaska.
Mike was a member of St. Mark's Catholic Church for 37 years serving at the church and grade school as well as Bishop Kelly High School. He was also a member of the Idaho Pioneers, Idaho British Motor Club and BCPA2.
Mike was a gentleman, loving husband, caring and fun father and grandpa and a great friend.
Mike was preceded in death by his parents, brother John (Merilyn) and son David. Survivors include his brother Rudy (Jeanne) wife Sharon, daughter Kristine and 3 grandchildren.
Thanks to all his medical providers over the 37 years especially to Horizon Hospice during his last weeks. Thanks also to Dr. Bruno Magaya and Deacon Joe Rodriguez for meeting his spiritual needs.
A viewing will be at 6:00 pm followed by a rosary on Tuesday, July 23, 2013. Funeral Mass will be on Wednesday, July 24, 2013 at 10:00 am. A luncheon will follow. All services are at St. Mark's Church, 7960 Northview. Interment will be at a later date. In lieu of flowers make a donation to St. Mark's School Foundation, 27503 Northview, Boise, ID 83704.
