Nancy Hess went to be with the Lord at the age of 70 on December 19, 2013 surrounded by loved ones at her home in Meridian following a prolonged illness.
She was born December 27th 1942 in Missoula, Montana to Raymond and Viola Johnson. She grew up in Milltown, Montana, and became a Registered Nurse after graduating from St. Patrick's School of Nursing in Missoula. She married Jay Hess on May 11, 1963. Jay's career took them to Sandpoint, Idaho, back to Missoula, to Manassas, Virginia and finally to Boise where they have lived for the last 40 years. While raising a family, Nancy worked part-time for doctors or in hospitals wherever they lived. She shared her caring and pleasant personality with all she encountered and made many lifelong friends. She was a caregiver to many. She nursed both her best friend and her oldest daughter through cancer treatment. Earlier in life Nancy enjoyed participating in sports, especially bowling and volleyball. Later she took great pleasure in watching her grandchildren's sporting events and school performances. She loved to do arts and crafts, often sharing these activities with her grandchildren. She much enjoyed occasional trips to Jackpot with her friends and daughters, rarely winning, but having a great time in the process.
She is survived by her husband of 50 years, her children: Jill Hess, Denver; Brian Hess, Boise; Shawna and her husband, Chris Baker, Meridian; Sheryl and her husband, Kirk Reilly, Meridian; grandchildren: Brady, Cody, Tristan, Nicole, Callie and Dylan; a sister, Donna Crory and a brother, Richard Johnson. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Raymond Johnson.
